Warriors Orochi 3 to get Western release

Crossover button masher due on PS3, Xbox 360.

The third entry in Tecmo Koei's big-in-Japan button masher series Warriors Orochi is to get a Western release.

The publisher's European community manager confirmed that localisation is underway, via a post on his Twitter feed earlier today.

He added that an official announcement is due later this week.

True to series tradition, the game sees you slicing your way through vast armies with a variety of weapons and power-ups. The Japanese trailer below should give you an idea of exactly what lies in wait.

Expect characters from Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive and Bladestorm to put in cameo appearances.

The first game in the series scored a middling 6/10 when it arrived in Europe back in 2007.

"Compared to the innovative excellence of Koei's other battlefield titles like Bladestorm or Gundam Musou, or even just Samurai Warriors 2, Warriors Orochi falls a little short," read Eurogamer's Warriors Orochi review.
