Starhawk gets US release date

PS3 shooter out a week before Max Payne 3.

Multiplayer-focused PlayStation 3 shooter Starhawk launches on 8th May in the US, Sony has announced in a PlayStation Blog post.

That's one week before Max Payne 3 hits the shelves.

A near identical post on the European PlayStation Blog shied away from confirming a date for these shores.

As reported last week, an open beta goes live for the game tomorrow. You'll get to play through exactly the same content that was included in last year's closed beta, along with the Arcade Flight Mode from predecessor Warhawk.

Looking forward to getting a rip on this tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how the new game mechanics affect balance of games. Warhawk was the best fun i've had online in a game... ever I think.

I will have to wait February to join the beta (I don't have PSPlus) but definitely this is one of my most wanted games of 2012.
Uncharted 3 wasn't my cup of tea online (before people start enraging I am not saying it was a bad game; actually is my favourite game of 2011) so I hope this one will revitalize my love for the third person online.

@jonbwfc Well Max Payne is considered a big release, and with it being a major recession on at the moment, i think its a big deal to mention when the other big hitters are around it?

Played Warhawk from day one and still do from time to time, cant wait for this tho! The Beta was great too, they actually took advise and made real improvements in the gameplay.

Grrrrr, I really wanna play Starhawk, I purposefully saved my PS Plus free trial (from the PS3 hacking thing) just so I could be a part of this beta, but the free trial isnt available anymore. What a ball ache.
