Miyamoto confirms he's working on new "original" title

Nintendo talisman Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that he's currently working on a brand new "original" title as well as more familiar fare like Pikmin 3 for WiiU.

Speaking in an interview with Zoom.in, he explained that he's trying not to feel the pressure of creating something fresh.

"People have come to expect a lot from me. This certainly makes me feel some pressure," he said.

"But if you ask me, 'Is it too much pressure to try to come out with something new?' I have to say no, I'm enjoying myself. When I make something I always try to do my best."

Elsewhere in the interview, which you can see in full below, Miyamoto also addressed a recent Wired report suggesting he was about to retire.

"I really appreciate all the kindness given the kind of comments that I made. But to be clear, I have no intention to retire at all. I'm not old enough to think about retirement right now.

"But everyone has to retire at some point. I wanted to make clear that we are preparing for that."

He even went on to address his own mortality, explaining that he was happy that his creations would outlive him.

"I become jealous because we have to pass away and they can go on," he said.

"But it's a good thing. The team behind Super Mario 3D Land were once kids that loved the original. Now they're kind of paying homage in order to create the latest iteration for today's customers. The cycle is going to remain so that good characters and franchises can just go on forever."
