Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand PS3 weapon fix incoming

DICE acknowledges issues with sniper rifle and MG36.

Battlefield 3 developer DICE is aware of an issue with the Back to Karkand DLC on PlayStation 3 that occasionally borks a number of weapons and is working on a fix.

A post on the Battlefield Blog explained that the studio is aware that the QBU-88 sniper rifle and MG36-LMG are "not acting as they should".

"We have identified the problem and are working on a fix. We will keep you posted on our progress!"

Judging by user feedback posted on the game's official forums it seems that the weapons aren't appearing on screen for some players once they've been unlocked.

The Battlefield Blog announcement notes that the weapons should work as normal on the base game maps.

Is it just me or is anybody else experiencing weird outages in the sound in some sections?
  • jambii267 #2 5 months ago

Yes, seems to be a cross platfrom issue.

No mention of fixing the issue that the FAMAS is grossly overpowered? Or how the weapons unlocked through assignments have a comical 12x scope attached to them even when they're assualt rifles that don't even have that range?

EG has suddenly started using the word a lot. It's a bit annoying.
  • Squidgywidgywoo #5 5 months ago

Please EG, never use that word again.
  • TazerFan #6 5 months ago

Yeah, bugs the hell out of me that a games journalist would use the word bork.

On a completely unrelated note, I reinstalled Battlefield 2 the other day.

Winning a game purely due to being part of a great squad is still oh-so satisfying.

Most weapons in BF3 have a 6x or 12x scope, you just have to be a DICE employee to unlock them. I was surprised to that (as kinky_mong stated) a couple of weapons did unlock with those scopes immediately available.

When are they going to resolve all of the other issues like squad chat and joining games in squads then being freakin split up or on opposite sides?
  • TheEarlOfZinger #13 5 months ago

The FAMAS is ridiculously overpowered - agreed, puts me as a support player at a real disadvantage. Needs nerfing, as they say.

joining games in squads then being freakin split up or on opposite sides?

I don't understand why people keep calling this a bug. If you join a game with four friends and the game has 20 people on each side, do you expect it to imbalance the entire game by making it 20 vs 24 just so you can play together? Just finish out the round and it will usually put you together when the next game starts.

    Haha. Bork.
Well, i am a somewhat surprised that no one comments on the issue that the from-the-hip sight sometimes goes missing. For example after respawning, after switching weapons, after rushing...
And famas should be forbidden in its current form!

    @arcam
The tagline for BF3 is 'playing with friends has never been this easy' and yet splitting your squad shouldn't happen. They should just put you on another map/server that allows you to join together otherwise what's the point?
