Battlefield 3 Physical Warfare Pack out now on PC and Xbox 360

For free.

The Battlefield 3 Physical Warfare Pack is out now for PC and Xbox 360, DICE has announced.

The previously exclusive pre-order bonus launches free of charge.

You get the DAO-12 shotgun, if you haven't unlocked it already. You also get custom flechette ammo for the DAO-12, a flash suppressor for the SKS sniper rifle and the Type 88 Light Machine Gun.

On Xbox 360 you can get the Physical Warfare Pack from the in-game store. On PC, the content will be automatically available in play and visible in Battlelog.

The Physical Warfare Pack launched on PlayStation 3 last week. It caused a fair bit of consternation when first announced as a pre-order incentive, with fans threatening a boycott on grounds that gave some players an unfair advantage.

Can never complain about free stuff.

Except if you paid for it before it was free

This must be a typo MS doesn't allow free stuff and stuff that appears 1st on PSN, so that's two stunts MS doesn't dig.

Thank god for Sony and the PS3. If it wasn't for the fact it was offered free on PSN, you could bet your life that Microsoft would be charging for this.

It's things like this that make me fucking hate pre ordering games....

Every game should call its next minor patch free DLC.

@Daddy-Doom-Bar failure to read full article makes you look like a numpty.
  • andytheadequate #12 5 months ago

Daddy Doom Bar is actually right, not a "numpty". I downloaded this for free on the 360 last week (at the same time as the PS3 version was announced)

@miiiguel Remember back when Xbox Live originally launched there were no EA games that supported that. EA refused to agree to MS's rules. MS decided because they knew they had to have Fifa and Madden to stand any chance of competing with the Playstation, to allow EA to pretty much do what they want.

Which is why EA are able to make title updates that are significantly bigger than TRC's allow, require the player to have an EA account, and charge or give away what they want.

@andytheadequate done a bit of digging seems you were one of the lucky ones that got there before MS pulled it down following another balls up as it was put up early for a few hours. the official release as stated here and everywhere is today. it hasn't been readily available for whole week.

@xYOSSARIANx : that's bs and you know it, typical news to make ppl coment on blogs and sites, kinda stuff which makes the digital world go flat. There are plenty of examples of free DLC on Live, I can give you the game I'm playing right now, which came with a code for a free DLC included. Saint's Row: The Third it's a fairly well known game from THQ, though THQ has no footy or FPS game, let's just admit this infamous rule we like to talk about has more holes than emmental cheese.

Ya I got it last week aswell.
Still didnt prevent me from being shite though...
  • DannyXanny #17 5 months ago

  • colicabd #18 5 months ago

Nice so what do those of us who payed extra for it on release get?

Nice so what do those of us who payed extra for it on release get?

A life lesson not to follow silly pre-order incentives that add very little to the game.
  • ruthlesskiller #20 5 months ago

@colicabd did you have to pay more for the game than someone who walked in off the street? No. If you got the limited edition (for a few extra pounds), you get Karkand for free, whereas anyone who didn't has to pay for it. I honestly don't see the issue, it's called marketing so they can drum up more pre-orders. I didn't pre-order and got the Physical Warfare pack, so just shows that's it's just a ploy

@miiguel there's plenty of free addons on XBLA, they just released some free stuff for Gunstringer (which is an MS Studios game), there was a free bit of DLC for Left 4 Dead, there was some for Fruit Ninja Kinect and Gears 3 recently too. So whilst they do charge for a lot of DLC, there must be some reason they don't charge for others

More pre-release marketing spin. None of the stuff in the physical warfare pack was exactly game changing. There is much better kit in all the classes.

The free 'Back to Karkand' map pack was a much better incentive to pre-order. I feel sorry for the poor souls who came to the game late and can only get the standard edition, discovering they need to fork out 1200 MS points so they can play the new content with their mates.

Sucks for all the people who paid extra for the pack lolol
