Witcher 2 headlines GOG.com Christmas sale

Bundled with Witcher 1 for £14.99.

The GOG.com Christmas sale kicks off on 8th December.

The headline act is The Witcher 2, which will be bundled with the Enhanced Edition of Witcher 1 for £14.99 - a saving of 40 per cent (not to mention the free game).

This Witcher 2 sale starts at noon on Thursday (8th December) and expires shortly before midnight on Saturday (10th).

GOG.com will give away more than 400 game codes for various old PC games on Saturday (10th) and Sunday (11th). Included in this giveaway are Master of Orion 1 and 2, and Realms of Arkadia 1 and 2. There will be "lots" of codes given out for games costing $5.99 and $9.99, too.

On Monday (12th), GOG.com will host a 48-hour giveaway of Empire Earth: Gold Edition. Anyone with a GOG.com account can claim the game for free.

Monday also marks the beginning of the "50% Off Holiday Celebration" sale. This will apparently span "virtually every game in the catalogue", and lasts through to 2nd January 2012.

The Witcher 2 has been patched extensively since launch. And it was already fantastic.

GoG are so awesome, they should be the benchmark in digital distribution.

Free Empire Earth on Monday? I'll have that.

Sold. Only just restarted 1 to get ready for 2 but I'll have it, a nice DRM free copy of 1 to.

OK, for that price one can't go wrong really! SOLD.

Hopefully Witcher 1 will work on my laptop....

@JamieR They first announced that it would be released by the end of this year, but it's been pushed back to the first quarter of 2012.

Just been playing throug Witcher 1 from the Steam sale. Some great ideas and a good setting - just struggling with the storytelling, really, which so far has been dire =/

Still - good characters, great alchemy system (gets richer the more you explore it), great world building... definitely worth a go.

I'm more tempted by Witcher 2 really, but I fancy waiting for a wee graphics upgrade first, make the most of it!

Almost bought Witcher 1 the other day but decided I had enough to play.

But then, if its free with Witcher 2 I might have to get it.
  • Wot_the_Melon #10 6 months ago

@Kafeen Let me tell you, at first I didn't think I'd really like The Witcher series (I wasn't really an RPG player). Later, I thought I wouldn't really like The Witcher 1. Now... if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to playing it : P completely addicted. Do play the first game in Polish with English subtitles though, it'll save you quite some wincing at awful voice acting.

I do wish all these digital distribution websites would stop having sales. My poor credit card can't cope :(

That being said, I can probably just about stretch to the odd £1.50 classic title here and there, don't need Witcher 2 as I've just recently bought it from Direct2drive for £12 as one of their daily deals. While this is the current best price for the two games I would imagine, I think somewhere is still doing the original game for about a quid or so.

Empire Earth was rather tidy in multiplayer and the interface was years ahead of it's time.

Nice to think suddenly loads of people will have a copy.

    @iplaygames

Yeah, you definetely could do that. If you were a dirty, rotten thief.
  • ISmoke #15 6 months ago

@iplaygames it'd be funny if you got a virus.

    In real life, that is.
  • rottingyoda #16 6 months ago

@ISmoke I consider the fiat cinquecento a virus on the automotive industry. Perhaps he'll get "caught" by one of them at high speed...
