Miyamoto considering 2D Zelda remakes
A new Link to the Past?
Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto is considering revisiting the 2D era of Zelda games for a future 3D remake.
Miyamoto is particularly interested in revamping games "designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past", series boss Eiji Aounuma told GamesRadar, "taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that you could get a sense for the depth of those worlds".
"That's something that might be interesting to do," he continued, "so I would say there might be a possibility of something like that in the future."
He is not currently looking into the matter himself, however.
Aonuma has previously stated that after the 3DS' first Zelda game was a remake of Ocarina of Time, the next 3DS project will be a completely original title.
But that's all after upcoming Wii title Zelda: Skyward Sword arrives - next Friday in the UK.

I did play this on the SNES and then later revisited it again on the GBA. I could probably delude myself for a while that I didn't want to play it again, but I'm a sucker for 3D so will probably be all over this should it happen.

Must be bored with the 3D already, if they now want to make perfectly fine 2D games in 3D.

In fact I would rather they remade some of the 3D games in the 2D engine

Wow, talk about desparate. Miyamoto san is clearly all out of fresh ideas.

That doesn't mean a 3D remake of 2D games. To me it sounds more like creating a new game, but with 3D top-down graphics.
They have my blessing.

Putting Link to the Past in 3D would ruin the magic. Somebody stop these people before they destroy a classic!

Part of me wishes for a comeback, but I doubt any new one will live up to the original.

Also- at the Zelda Symphony in London last month, that Japanese dude (don't know his name) said they would be announcing a Zelda remake in November. Anyone else that was there remember this, or did I mis-hear?

It is easily my favorite game of all time. I've played it on every system it's been released on. I've paid for it twice on every system it's been released on too.
No other game has seen as much of my money apart from WoW which is obvious because of it's subs model.
