First image from new Alan Wake game

Nail gun!

The first image from the next entry in the Alan Wake series has been released.

As seen on GameInformer, it shows the titular author wielding his trusty torch and what looks like some kind of power tool. A nail gun? A drill, perhaps? What with that and the flannel shirt, it looks like he's about get stuck into some serious DIY.

A road sign behind him reads "Night Springs 15" while the hoarding for the Desert Shore Motel can also be seen.

Beyond that, we know nothing other than that it's in development for Xbox Live Arcade, it's thought to be titled Alan Wake's Night Springs and gets a full reveal at the Spike VGA event on 10th December.

In the meantime, feel free to theorise away.

For all its faults, Alan Wake is probably in my top 5 games of this generation. So really looking forward to what Remedy are bringing to the table here.

@rotmm I enjoyed Alan Wake too but the level design was so clunky. Every time you entered a new area you would drop down a small step so that you couldn't go back. It's like pre Super Mario game mechanics.

Top 25 games of this generation I could get on board with. Just

With regard to the screenshot. All we can possibly say is ... Yep it looks like an Alan Wake game because there is Alan and there is a torch.

I know it's only one picture, but it has me excited and relieved that we get more Alan Wake.

And it may only be a motel name, but I like the sound of 'desert shore'.

Who cares? This looks like a bum in a 4th rate knock-off wielding a torchlight. Alan Wake was good and showed potential towards something great, but this doesn't.

Looks decent. Liked Alan Wake a lot, it was only let down by those running through the forest sections.

Ah. I see Remedy have managed to fit it into the XBLA size limit mostly by no longer rendering 30 layers of various shirts, hoodies and jackets on Alan's character model.

I suppose sacrifices have to be made...

Clearly it's safer doing DIY during day time (particularly in the AW universe - will he never learn!?!?!?)

Loved the original, will definitely be getting this. Pity the original wasn't open world as they originally intended, would have been interesting to see if they could have retained the same level of atmosphere in a "go anywhere" setting.
Anyway, more Alan Wake is a good thing, very underrated game. Flawed, but great IMO.

Original is one of, if not the most atmospheric games of all time.

I'm pretty sure that size limit doesn't exist any more. If it does it's more of a guideline.

Titles bigger than 2GB have already been released AFAIK.

As far as i'm aware, Alan Wake (1) was about 2.5 GB big if you count out the Cutscene Videos that took up a lot of space

Loved the setting for Alan Wake and I thought the graphics were really good, but I didn't really enjoy actually playing it all that much. Perhaps I need to give it another go.

so here we go aga�n. can't say i hated Alan Wake, i'm actually quite anxious about Night Springs as the two DLC episodes were way ahead of the main game. but changes to the formula have to be made or this one's gonna find itself in the garbage...or being erased at least..

@Syrette there is no way they have gone rid of the limitation. the only thing that comes to my mind is Crysis and that wasn't even released on XBLA but GoD, for the sole reason of being so huge!
