MacBook Air and iMac overhauls next year, too.

Apple will release iPad 3 and iPhone 5 next year as well as overhaul MacBook Air and iMac, a new report from Taiwan claimed.

Taiwanese blog Digitimes, which has a decent track record, heard from sources within Apple's supply chain.

Apple has apparently ordered enough components to make two million iPad 3s by the end of 2011. Among that order are said to be flat panel modules and LED light bars for two iPad 3 prototypes, codenamed J1 and J2.

Digitimes heard that iPhone 5 and the new iMac are "unlikely" to be unveiled until the second half of 2012.

How could they order enough parts to make 2 million iPad 3s, yet still be prototyping the iPad 3? That makes no sense.

The only sensible conclusion is that those prototype parts are for the iPad 4 or 5.

The only slightly interesting or surprising thing about the report and you missed it :/

Intel still haven't made the Sandy Bridges versions of the Xeon chips available, were due November but now pushed back until Q1-12.

Although there's plenty of rumours around at the moment that Apple are thinking of dropping the Mac Pro line, which would piss me off as I'm not working on a sodding iMac.

More useful "less obvious" info may have been better...

Like...
Making "Retina resolution" screens the size of an iPad is not happening fast - so the iPad 3 may just be an iPad 2S in reality and the "real" iPad 3 may not turn up until a LOT later when they can get volumes on the manufacturing. Which is probably why 2 prototypes are being bandied around.

Afraid to say Apple is "loosing it fast" - just turning out the same 2 devices year after year with a slight speed tweak is not gonna keep people interested for long...

I see no reason to upgrade my iPad 1 or iPhone 4 yet?!

Drop that in there before you think I am an Apple hater!

Now that Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime - *that* is looking a little more innovative and probably 10 times better for gaming on than an iPad. Way faster and it has the "option" of real buttons. Nice bit o'kit - roll on Nov 9th.

I agree, but sadly, PSN isn't much better. PSN is half Tower Defence, half shovelware, and half rubbish themes/avatars. Also on Steam there's more Tower Defence than there should be.

I swear Apple are on course to have the first One Thousand Euro phone. One new phone/pad every TWO years is acceptable. That said, iPhone 5 surely can't get any more advanced, I haven't seen a 16MP camera in a phone.

@handsonhips101 - you can make ringtones using garageband.... but i agree its not as easy and drag and drop for Android. also, to be fair to Apple not having emulators, I'm guessing most wouldn't actually own the ROM's which makes that illegal.
