Fear Effect 1, 2 and Fighting Force 2 look set for PSN

Square Enix digs into Eidos back catalogue.

Fear Effect 1 and 2 look set for release on PlayStation Network after listings for both game popped up on a ratings board.

Fear Effect, developed by Kronos Digital and published by Eidos on PlayStation 1 in 1999, has been re-rated for launch on PlayStation 3 by PEGI.

Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix, the kinky 2001 sequel, is also on PEGI's website. Both games are rated 18 for extreme violence.

Meanwhile, PEGI has listed Fighting Force 2, a 3D take on the 2D beat-em-up genre developed by Core Design and published by Eidos in 1999.

All these games will likely launch on the PlayStation Network Store as PSOne Classics.

Eum, Vagrant Story has been available as a PSOne classic for ages?
I loved Fear Effect 2 back in the days, such an original visual style, and so brutal at the same time, (look up "fear effect 2 deaths" on youtube)

Awesome, I played both but loved 2 the most. I got to disk 3 but stopped playing as I entered a room full of statues and knew they were gonna come alive, was so scared....

Hmm, eagle eyes there EG - but wasn't Fighting Force 2 released on PSN in the 19th October PSN update?

never played fear effect, looks great though, might have missed something back in the psone days.

Loved Fighting Force 2, the last missino with the robot boss was very difficult though.

There was some freaky s*** in fear effect 2
and im not just talking about the strange contraption

@razzastuta As others have said, i think the chances of it being re-released are pretty high. In fact, If you go look on the PSN store right now, you'll see that Square has added it, just for you! ;)

Consider it an early christmas present ;)

Damn. Please come to xbox live, loved both fear effect games. Something I am jealous of on ps3 which has only happened couple of times.

I hated fear effect. The visual technology ended up creating a bit too much of an instadeathy dragons lair experience for my liking.

Loved FE1 (towel scene on disc 2 is a stand out memory) but never played the sequal. Would get them both if priced appropiately.

I learnt the word "sapphic" due to the sequel.

    Very educational.

I'm sure having the two female leads in a relationship in Fear Effect 2 helped get a few extra sales 10 years ago - but today it always seems to cheapen what is a fantastic game.

It's a bit like DOA - Earlier entries in the series needed a gimmick to sell but by DOA4 had evolved into a proper, technical, fighter... and yet still all anyone bangs on about is tits.

People say games need to grow up, but they're just responding to the market.

Get in - Fear Effect was awesome

Oh my god! Vagrant Story IS on the PSN? Sorry folks! How the devil did I miss that?!? Granted, I haven't had a good look at the PSN Store for a while....seems like a really long time. Whoops.

Big thanks to those who pointed me in the right direction, especially ZuluHero, that was awesome. :)

Great news! The two Fear Effects remain two of my favourite games of the PS1 era. Rock hard combat at times, a distinctive visual style and puzzles that were actually, you know, puzzles.

As I recall, Fighting Force 2 is out on the European PSN? Fear Effect 1 & 2 re-release however wouldn't go amiss ;)
