Techland trademarks Dead World

First hint at a Dead Island sequel?

UPDATE: A spokesperson for the studio just told Eurogamer, "Techland is not going to comment on [the trademark filing] at this time."

ORIGINAL STORY: Dead Island developer Techland filed a trademark for something called Dead World earlier this week.

As spotted by Siliconera, the name was logged on 28th October and potentially refers to "computer game software and electronic software programs."

Could it be the first hint that the studio is looking to expand on Dead Island, its recent zombie FPS hit? Or is it just some strategic trademark squatting?

We've asked the Polish developer to fess up and will update should it respond.

Dead Island launched earlier this year to mixed reviews but impressive sales. A movie based on the game is reportedly in the works.
