Rainbow Six: Patriots revealed by registrations

Said to be set for a November announcement.

Ubisoft registrations look to have revealed the name of the next game in the Rainbow Six series.

Two domain registrations for Rainbow Six: Patriots were filed on the same day Ubisoft registered names for Assassin's Creed: Recollection, Fusible reports.

Ubisoft registered both Rainbow6Patriots.com and RainbowsixPatriots.com on the 27th October.

Little is known about the game, although a report from Kotaku ahead of E3 2011 suggested it will be "far more story-driven" than previous entries in the series. It's described as bigger, more gritty and more cinematic.

Apparently you fight against a terrorist group operating in America fed up by the greed of Wall Street. New York City is the target.

A brand new cover system is said to take players out of the first-person perspective and into the third.

A member of NeoGAF claims to have in their possession artwork, logos and assets. An announcement will be made in Xbox World Magazine during November, the poster claims.

The last entry in the series, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2, launched in 2008. The Ubisoft Montreal-developed game won a 7/10 in Eurogamer's review.

Hope they don't stray too far from what makes Rainbow Six good. It's about time they released a new one though, and it's nice that it's not in bloody Vegas again, they really didn't need two games with the same setting.

Rainbow Six is something I am really pleased to see brought back! I hope they're going to keep the gameplay tight, emphasise tactics and keep the cqc to a bare minimum. Then it won't be as grim and compromised, as Ghost Recon looks like it could be, judging by the last stage presentation.

    Ok New York Seriously?
At least its got Skyscrapers to land on and repel from.

Brand New? sounds just like Vegas?

Hopefully the Planning Stage and the Multi entry points return so we can get back to Rainbow Six Greatness.

The planning stage could be really good. I agree with you on these points :)

Patriots? Patriots protecting Wall Street? Sounds like it was sponsored by the GOP.

I'm with Bill Hicks on the subject of patriotism.

I think I'll be sticking up for the baddies in this game. I don't wanna go around shooting hippies in protest camps when I actually support them. Make the CEO's on Wall Street the bad guys like in real life.

Hopefully cinematic doesn't mean 'woefully blatantly scripted'

Sounds like another FPS that will be "borrowing" ideas from the COD games...

I miss games like SWAT4 which were heavy on the realism, now days it's all about the roller-coaster ride, they should change the acronym from "FPS" to "FPRR" (First Person Roller-coaster Ride).

Vegas games were more than ok, the rapelling multiplayer levels were genius. No other shooter on the 360 has hit that sweet spot of realism verses fun, with the exception of the Battlefield series.

I thought vegas 1 was great, but found 2 to be a massive let down. I was really looking forward to it to, the campaign was really short and the story was a mess. It felt really half-arsed compared to vegas 1.

And as others have said I just hope it doesn't go all COD on us.

Actually the more I think about it the more I don't wanna buy this game on principle. How the hell have Ubisoft decided that people fighting for their rights, the rights of the less well off in society and a new democracy are suddenly the enemy? This will be the first game I do not buy on principle, fk you Ubisoft.

I'm sorry but did this just say, that terrorist are going to be anti-wallstreet terrorist? The patriots are the ones protecting wallstreet?

Seriously do you want to look anymore right wing blatent in story ubisoft?

It makes sense they go on the defensive considering Occupy Wallstreet is anti-corporations but still this is too blatent.

But seriously , most right wing angle ever. Assuming that protestors are just inches away from being terrorist ubisoft should be ashamed of themselves.

Agree with prev poster. Innocent peaceful protestors outraged that so much national wealth has been given to the obscenely rich are to be flashbang and headshot fodder in the next R6? Why can't we play a game where we shoot the bankers?

All I want is an updated R6 Vegas. The new setting will be great, but I don't think they needed to change that much. So long as there's 4 player terrorist hunt I'll be happy as I still go back to that to this day.

Ding is down! Ding is down!

Theys hould really bring back the planning sections to it's full glory - Frozen Synapse proved there's a demand!

Vegas 2's campaign was absolutely terrible, having a boss fight to finish it was completely awful. Hopefully whoever wrote that has nothing to do with this.

The MP was good though so that's just as well as a whole it was more of an expansion pack than an actual sequel.

    new cinematic story driven campaign.

    it's going to be shit.

thanks to the success of COD, all FPS campaigns are now shit.

press X to disarm baddie, chop suey him in the throat, and throw him onto the tracks of an oncoming train.

    please die publishers.
