Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy on cover of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13

Pair join Tiger Woods following Facebook vote.

Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy will join Tiger Woods on the cover of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13, EA Sports has announced.

More than 250,000 voted on Facebook for who they wanted to join Woods on the front of the game box.

Rickie Fowler beat Bubba Watson by a final margin of 51 per cent to 49 per cent to win the American side of the vote. Rory McIlroy defeated Luke Donald by 54 per cent to 46 per cent to win the European side.

"Appearing on the cover of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 was an amazing experience and helped introduce me to a whole new fan base around the world," said McIlroy.

"But this year holds special meaning because it was the fans who decided to put me on the cover once again."

"For someone that grew up playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour and is a huge fan of the franchise, this is a great moment in my career," said Fowler.

"I'm excited to join Tiger on the cover of this year's game and want to especially thank all of my fans who spread the word and voted for me."

We'll see the game's cover art in November.

Attention was focused on the cover of Tiger Woods after revelations about the golfer's private life hit the headlines.

Woods' image was dropped by EA Sports for the box art of this year's game, with the box art for the standard edition of all three versions of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters going big on the Masters Logo instead.

Last year EA boss John Riccitiello said Woods needed to start winning games in order for his business relationship with EA to make sense.

"We have no plans to move away from him, but it's a business relationship on the basis of we make the best golf game and he's the best golfer," Riccitiello said.

"Both of those things need to be true in the long run for the partnership to make sense.

"He sort of stuck with us for a very long time and we made great business together," he added, "and we're willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for a period of time."
