3DS firmware update next month - report

3D video recording, new StreetPass game.

A major 3DS firmware update goes live on 4th November, according to a new report.

The announcement was apparently made at a Nintendo Europe event in Munich earlier today, Tweeted by an attending freelance journalist and then picked up by Nintendo World Report.

The update reportedly brings with it 3D video recording, a new StreetPass game and improvements to the eShop.

We're chasing Nintendo for confirmation right now, but it seems like a reasonable bet. The platform holder has scheduled a webcast for this Friday to discuss the update and other impending 3DS activity.

By improvements to the eshop, do they mean slightly better navigation, or do they mean that sone actual content will arrive in the shape of some games, previously promised 3D movie rentals, and prices in line with their competition?

    I reckon it's the former.

Hopefully it means the shop will be sorted permanently by type/system instead of changing it every week into different arbitrary categories that don't mean anything and don't even include all the available games.

The lack of GBA games on their eShop is laughable.

A new Street Pass game will be nice, I finished the first two a few months back and have had nothing to do with all those coins.

Ditto - I've got a nice little nest egg to spend when the new game arrives. :)

I used to love my 3DS but I'm not sure I care any more

Have they released any of the free GBA ambassador games yet?
I lost interest when they just released the super-old games but Yoshi's Island could be fun.

The improvement I want most for the eShop is for the prices to be cheaper. ¬.¬

No. I refuse to switch it on. How much money do you get in shops in the UK when you sell it to them? In the Netherlands I'll get ?80 for it.

3D recording, eh? *strokes chin thoughtfully*

I just want my Metroid Fusion :(

Multiple downloads would be nice. Getting the freebies was painful.
A shop where they don't ask a different guy from the nearby mental hospital each week to decide the shop categories.

@Mister-Wario are you sure that's your chin?

Too little, too late for me. My 3DS is on ebay as we speak, just cant get on with it. Battery life that doesn't even cover a flight to Europe, expensive games, and no RPGs. Oh, and that dual pad add-on is an abomination!

Might buy back in next year when the inevitable 3DS Lite/XL/Dual-Stick(3DSDS?) comes out.

Sane prices, viable navigation, previously promised eshop features. Would also like generalised availability of the stupid Ambassador games so I can PAY MONEY FOR GOODS AND SERVICES I DESIRE.

    For fuck's sake.

Let's be honest the 3ds has been a complete disaster so far. Bought one at launch expecting pro evo to be good based on the eurogamer review. Unfortunantely they failed to mention that it is completely unplayable, giving it a 8/10. Traded that for ridge racer... meh. What's came out since then? Ocarina. I have that already.
Video recording is unimportant. I don't expect Nintendo to suddenly make the eshop relevant considering the joke it has been to this point. So basically there's mario kart, a weird 2d/3d hybrid of mario that will hopefully be good but in any video looks very slow and boring compared to normal mario and a few other games that might, might, be good. Well done Nintendo, well done. Also, if you decide to put those "slider pads" on the Wii-u instead of proper analogue sticks you can really go fuck yourself, there's no way I'm going to buy that.
