    I wonder what the Wii U version will look like.

    Tell you what, I'd love a HD version of Dragon Quest IX.

    Why o why did they turn this into a online game? Sure, it's Square Enix and they made a tremendous succes with their previous MMO set in a extremely popular franchise, so I should have faith, right?... Right?

    It looks bland and devoid of all charm, almost as if thrown together from clip art.

    They do know textures can encompass more pixels than 512x512, right?

    @Golgo

    I was going to say the same thing. The characters look like they came from a graduation project.

    Looks like Dragon Quest with all the charm removed. Good job SE!

    Perhaps Squenix got fed up of shitting all over the Final Fantasy name and decided to shit all over Dragon Quest for a change.

    The thumbnails, in particular, look like they're working from an 8 bit color palette. For a moment, I thought I was looking at something from the Amiga/SNES era or perhaps (generously) an old VGA PC game. Shown full size, they don't look much better. Everything's so bloody empty. Empty forests, empty streets, empty canyons, empty rooms, empty caves. A whole lotta nothing.

    Yep, still looking shit. Nice one Square.

    As others have pointed out, yes, not only does the game look repulsive, but it's mostly empty. But I especially like the character sitting down in the woods - see how her hands clip right through her clothes? See how the clothes are rigid and without any physics whatsoever?

    Ah, yes, it looks like a 10-year-old FTP Dragon Quest rip-off. They may yet top the release of FFXIV; well done, SE, well done.

    Dragon Quest 8 was brilliant on the PS2. I was really disappointed when 9 went to the DS and now we have this crap!

    Can we just have a 'proper' new game for the PS3/360 please?

    Christ on a bike, that is horrendous even for a Wii.
    Did we just warp back in time 10 years?

    I agree with people saying that it looks kind of tosh by today's standards. I don't agree with that it is devoid of character. Some of the character designs are really evocative (just not this purple haired creature) and the spare look may actually work in favor of the role playing. It demands more fantasy and the open world could encourage exploration.
