EU PlayStation Store update 12th October

Castlevania! DA2! Space Marine for £50!

This week's EU PlayStation Store update is a threadbare affair, headlined by the delayed 2D side-scroller Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.

Castlevania: HOD was first released last August as part of the Xbox 360's annual Summer of Arcade season, when it scored a frightful 4/10 from Eurogamer's John Teti.

There's still no sign of Mortal Kombat: Arcade Kollection however. Sony previously blamed the six week delay on a "technical issue" with the game.

For those with looser purse strings and who don't like walking to the shops, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine is available to download for a whopping £49.99.

Elsewhere, The Guild actress Felicia Day dons elf ears for new Dragon Age 2 DLC Mark of the Assassin, priced £7.99, while a mixture of free and paid-for Ace Combat Assault Horizon add-ons also arrive.

PlayStation Plus subscribers meanwhile get Resident Evil 5 at 25 per cent off, while everyone can save a couple of quid on Call of Duty add-on content, including DLC for Modern Warfare 2.

The full listing, courtesy of the EU PlayStation blog lies below.

It's up to the publisher to set a price, not Sony in this case.
  • StolenGlory #5 8 months ago

    Space Marine for £50!

Man, I love all these introductory offers that Sony do on their PSN full-title downloads!
  • Beano #6 8 months ago

How do we report users for trolling?
  • captain_Carl #7 8 months ago

    The COD sale isn't PS+...
  • rockavitch #8 8 months ago

Seriously folks fuck off, people don't go running to Xbox/Wii stories and bitch as much as you lot do, if EG ignore button bother to work for me most of the time I'd have ignored half this site by now, we get it, you don't like Sony.
  • patch #9 8 months ago

Already anyone that makes a well reasoned, valid comment is on +1 and anyone that has the username djclownshoes is on -1

    Fixed :)
  • flaming.carrot #10 8 months ago

    @djclownshoes

Why are you even in this thread? You clearly hate Sony from the vitriol you post in pretty much every Sony-based article. Pointless.
  • SEVQA #11 8 months ago

25% off Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition for one week only, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition (£15.99/€19.99)!

Hey Capcom, RES 5 Gold Edition costs £10.88 at Tescos without a 25% reduction! DICK HEADS!!!!
  • patch #12 8 months ago

@djclownshoes Admit it, you're just p*ssed cause Bolt is £8 cheaper on PSN than on live :p
  • G-Lord #13 8 months ago

"Duke Nukem Forever - Hail to the Icons Parody Pack (£6.29/€7.99)"
For 2 more Euro you can get the full game on Steam at the moment...

    @djclownshoes

You've not upset anyone, they're just pointing out what a nob you are.
  • TafKas #15 8 months ago

Im still looking for Space Marine at online retailers for 'almost' the 17 quid mark....
  • el_pollo_diablo #16 8 months ago

    @djclownshoes

Scribblenauts is £3 on iphone, and £20 on DS. So would it be fair to say that you think apple are fantastic and nintendo are wankers?

  • jonbwfc #18 8 months ago

@tafkas, true it's still above £25 most places. However it doesn't change the fact asking £50 for it online is an act of lunacy.

  • Beano #19 8 months ago

I really miss a feature on EG's comment section: Ability to auto-neg a user but not ignore completely. That way it's easier to neg clownshoes and still read his posts for a cheap gut-laugh.
  • Darren #20 8 months ago

They could put games up on PSN and Game On Demand at £100 each and there'd still be idiots willing to pay for them. I can't say I blame THQ, EA or UbiSoft for overpricing their downloadable games when they know people will buy them; the fools are those who buy them in the first place.
  • gm914 #21 8 months ago

I'm surprised Sideway: New York was overlooked. It's a quite clever little platformer/puzzler.
Definitely this weeks pick. Tom obviously hasn't played it (or heard of it I gather).
  • Beano #22 8 months ago

Anyone know where I can buy US PSN cards?

I can't get my Visa to work with my US PSN account :(
  • andijames #23 8 months ago

I was perusing the store last night only to find some cracking bargains such as Tiger Woods 12 yours to download at £52.99. Seriously EA need a little help with their pricing structures on the PSN store. Unless we're subsidising Tiger Woods' divorce settlement figures with game purchases.
  • captain_Carl #24 8 months ago

Just to put these massive prices in perspective! FIFA 12 is £55 and is at the top of the "top sellers" list.

Can you really blame them when so many idiots are willing to pay these prices?
  • MisterM #25 8 months ago

Now if I could just log in and GET TO THESE THINGS...

The new title prices are ridiculous - nearly £20 over retail store price. CRAZY TALK.
  • patch #26 8 months ago

if a game is expensive on Live, blame M$$$$

@djclownshoes From the sources I've seen, Microsoft do set the Marketplace prices.
  • maximusfarticus #27 8 months ago

Give charliechan his due, he's managed to reel it in enough to avoid a banning this time. Previously his ranting has always got to such a point that the mods have had no choice but to ban him, still it's just a matter of time.
  • binster #28 8 months ago

Yeah, good work on ignoring the launch of a new game with Sideway there.
  • gooner77 #29 8 months ago

can you play res 5 gold edition without move or is that just the version that has all the DLC ?
  • chessboxer #30 8 months ago

And the ban hammer has spoken.
  • onyxbox #31 8 months ago

  • Zozzilla #32 8 months ago

:o He finally got banned? Dr Pepper and Jaffa Cakes for everyone!
  • Goodfella #33 8 months ago

Don't worry, he'll soon be back to entertain us all under another name.
  • NotSoSlim #34 8 months ago

Oh I think he forgot to mention Halo Reach price on Live.
  • Captain_Jono #35 8 months ago

"Warhammer 40K: Space Marine is available to download for a whopping £49.99."

In the 41st millennium, there is only digital distribution!

"Don't worry, he'll soon be back to entertain us all under another name."

He's hardly what you would call a creature of magnificent stealth though is he :)
  • joedix88 #38 8 months ago

    Where's the Resi 2 & 3 they promised a few weeks ago?

Also, what did this "djclownshoes" say? :)
  • DozyKipper #39 8 months ago

And this is why we still need discs and retail outlets. £50 for a game? Jog on.
  • Steroyd #40 8 months ago

The new title prices are ridiculous - nearly £20 over retail store price. CRAZY TALK.

I think the RRP on all titles are £50 anyway even though the actual shops sell them for £10 less than that (with exceptions like COD going for £45), and when Sony did price it under what you'd find in retail a.k.a Warhawk, they got a bit of backlash from the shops about it so... yeah it's kind of hard to pin the pricing specifically on Sony but rather a culmination of things, and I guess it goes for every other publisher to.

'people don't go running to Xbox/Wii stories and bitch as much as you lot do'

Unfortunatly they do. - Wii stories tend to be especially savaged.
  • Zozzilla #42 8 months ago

Oh and @Beano - I think only Mastercards work on the US PSN. For the wallet cards you'd probably have to see if anyone sells them on ebay.
  • cherryuk #43 8 months ago

At last I've waited sooo long for for COD World at War map packs to come down in price and now the combo is reasonable. I'm bored of Black Ops now, returning back to World at War and now trying out Battlefield 2.

Also Castlevania is good game to have on the list and trial too! WIN!
  • rockavitch #44 8 months ago

    @IronCladChicken
While some bitching does go on in articles involving them it is not as bad as on the Sony articles as here you get the same several people coming on, every bloody time, and bitching constantly and it just spirals out of control from there.
These morons who dislike everything Sony put so much dedication into badmouthing them and making their smartarse comments that the original topic of conversation get's lost in the same old shit.

Blocking them (when it works) isn't even worth it anymore because they go on and on and on and on so much that they then become the topic of the thread. We get it, you dislike Sony, share your grievance and fuck off (not aimed at you IronCladChicken, just kinda on a rant) or stick around and take part in an actual discussion without all this "My da's bigger than your da" bullshit.

It takes away from the story, valid points made by supporters and non-supporters of whatever the topic of the article is get lost in the shuffle, yes I could block them but what's the point as even if the block function does work they've all ready caused such an uproar in the comment section that most replies will be aimed at them anyway. It's one thing to throw in a "Underpowered Tat" comment in the Wii page, one thing to say "Aye Xbox your 2 exclusives are shit" or even "Jesus Sony your online is horrible, always offline, pathetic" but to go out of your way daily and bitch as much as some people do here (and it is only 5 or 6 people this is directed at) is a clear sign of a lack of maturity and to be honest pisses myself and a lot of other people off.

I hate bitching about bitching so bah I'm done for now.
    :) or :(
    Haven't decided.

EDIT: Oh now my ignore works, always when you complain eh... *mumbles*

    Bravo sir

"It's up to the publisher to set a price, not Sony in this case."

    Perhaps Sony should.
  • MrLovePump #49 7 months ago

It does seem a little crazy. I guess the difference is physical media is produced and then has to be reduced to clear. Where as its costing next to nothing to host things digitally. I wonder how many people buy at that price? It might be enough to make it worth while for them. Though given how much of a retail sale goes to the publisher you realise this is very very harsh pricing.
  • 3william56 #50 7 months ago

+ 1 for a Sideway review please . Looks like something seriously original, and pretty to boot.
