    And what about:

    shadows?
    screen tearing?
low res textures on standard cars?
    realistic car damage?

to name a few other 'minor' issues.
  • Bloobat #2 8 months ago

Dude chill out, I am thoroughly pleased that they are still updating the game, and those additions sound great, many were asked for by the comunity...
  • theonlyix #3 8 months ago

What, they still support this trainwreck?
  • 00.00.01 #4 8 months ago

Nice. It took PD ages to launch the titlle, but the after-care is excellent. Adding a new intro movie...lol, that's a cool extra, revitalizing the start procedure. And mid-race save feature for endurance races...finally.
All in all GT5 rules the realms of racing. Again.
  • Malek86 #5 8 months ago

Not bad overall. Mid-endurance saves are finally there, and I bet the simplified interior view will be like in GT PSP (hopefully a bit better). Also, I hope by improved Ui they mean improved load times.

I wasn't really expecting any technical improvements, anyway. They will probably need a new game for that.
  • ligurmatic #6 8 months ago

New opening movie, presumably at 1080P, on top of all the other stuff. I expect a huge download.

Still, very happy about an internal view in all cars. GT5 is a case for post-release updates (even it was a little crappy when it was released)

Whoa, quick on the button there EG,but i think there's still more tweets coming:

"11. Added a “NASCAR Pit Scene” stage to Photo Travel / 12. Added eleven 2011 model NASCAR cars…"

Great support for a great game. If they could just sort out the weird bumping noise that sounds like two wheelie bins colliding when you hit other cars I'd be really happy.
  • Psychotext #10 8 months ago

Nothing particularly impressive there, but nice to see they've listened and added endurance race saving.

Not that I'll go back to the game for it. That ship has long since sailed.
  • talhamid #11 8 months ago

Good stuff - after-sales by PD is beyond impressive.

ATROCIOUS, ATROCIOUS sub heading EG - how low can you guys go!
  • millgate2 #12 8 months ago

Nice. Great to see that they are still updating this game.

ATROCIOUS, ATROCIOUS sub heading EG - how low can you guys go!

Oh I think you know the answer to this
  • RodHull #14 8 months ago

    Spec 1.2 then.
  • Denny #15 8 months ago

Have they speeded up the menu system?
The main reason i chucked in the joypad was the horrendous waits between the menus just between buying new cars / new kit for the cars and actually racing the damn thing.
  • matty_matt_mattmatt #16 8 months ago

Forza 4 must be coming out
  • Kill_Crazy #17 8 months ago

    13. Added G25/ G27 support
    Thought it did already!
  • Raiko101 #18 8 months ago

That's a great update. Most games would have slapped a fiver on that at least.
  • Steroyd #19 8 months ago

If I were to nitpick, It'd proably be the inability to fast forward 24 hour B spec races, but otherwise, time to make some space on my hard drive again.
  • Slikz #20 8 months ago

Most games would have dlc within the first six months of release.
  • Beano #21 8 months ago

Nice list of updates - why are people complaining?

    - "Here's some caviar for you. It's free!"
    - "But, the caviar is not served by a blonde!!!.. wwwhuuuuhhhh!"
  • skankyjoe #22 8 months ago

I love the subheading! But i'm a sucker for bad puns.

@Slikz most games aren't still being played a year from release
  • Dop #23 8 months ago

Does anyone ever, EVER, play B-Spec? I mean, apart from the once for a laugh?
What is the point of a video game that plays itself? It's like my PS3 is having a swift one...

Like the idea of user control over weather. I think in this day and age there's no excuse for a racing game that doesn't allow you to race under different conditions.
  • tachometer #24 8 months ago

Not mentioning any names, but some people would have released this as a full retail price sequel!!

  • darleysam #25 8 months ago

    @Bertie it's ApocalyPS3, isn't it. I still think that's EG's finest work.
  • chub #26 8 months ago

"Mid-race save feature for endurance races"

Yes! That's my most wanted feature.
  • karooo #27 8 months ago

    "And what about:

    FUCK OFF
  • Lucodeath #28 8 months ago

G27 G25 support, now Im a happy chappy. Been waiting almost a year for that one. Even happier with user weather and improved UI.
Thought they would have added more skylines though as there arent enough.
    @kill
They work great but you cant change settings though.

    11. Added eleven 2011 model NASCAR cars
    12. Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Shulze Motor Sport

    Thank God for that.

If there was one legitimate complaint about GT5 that overshadowed all other minor gripes, it was there weren't enough NASCARs and Skylines.
  • Haerger #30 8 months ago

Hope they will release GT5 v2.0 on disk.
  • anthonypappa #31 8 months ago

this was good for a bit, then it turned into such a grind, and it's a pain to navigate. just feel the execution on this was WAY off!!

i moved to shift 2... all aids off (except traction control on low) - great fun with the right car. even the twitchy ones are satisfying to drive. the gumpert is awesome. really controllable when powersliding.
  • Freek #32 8 months ago

    - Spec 2.0 opening movie

    Predicted lenght: 2 hours.

    :-P
  • darc #33 8 months ago

    "Improved UI response and usability"

Long overdue. Maybe I'll give this game another shot when 2.0 hits. I was actually planning on trading it toward Forza 4.

And before the PS3 fans kill me for saying that, I'll add that the physics are already great, hard to imagine improvements (unless they're focused on collisions.)
  • berelain #34 8 months ago

    @hiscore
    "And what about:
    shadows?
    screen tearing?
low res textures on standard cars?
    realistic car damage?"

All valid questions, hardly deserving the -20 rep (at time of writing), but then I expected as much.

Anyway, reasonable update, and you can't complain for free I guess, though I question thatb the dev team spent time rendering a new intro and adding pointless photo travel features rather than enhancing basic issues with the game. I'm just thankful that they're adding the ability to narrow down car types for multiplayer races; its just a shame that its come far too late for me to have any interest in dusting off the game and trying it out. And, frankly, many of these 'improvements' should have been there from the very beginning anyway.

What would be amazing is if Polyphony and Turn 10 got together to develop a game with all the features and detail of GT, and the slick presentation, interface and features of Forza 4. Until then, we'll have to make do with at least 3 different sim racers to get the best.
  • anthonypappa #35 8 months ago

the game was over ambitious in the first place.

a small, tighter package would have been much better. then they wouldn't have so many post-release fixes.

personally, i would have ditched the standard cars - and converted two dozen of the best ones into premium - that would have given them more time and resources, and save the game from a horrible work-in-progress feel.

it's good that they are updating it, but they need to calm down and focus next time, big time.
  • Trinod #36 8 months ago

    seattle track please
  • Beano #37 8 months ago

Agree.. I would pay for a track pack :)
  • geeza2020 #38 8 months ago

    whats wrong with the sub-heading?

Am I missing some in joke here? Seems like a good little update from PD to me.
  • coomber #39 8 months ago

"Mid-race save feature for endurance races"

You have just massively improved the game. Well done.
  • skankyjoe #40 8 months ago

@geeza2020 it initially read "new stuff HONDA way"
  • jablonski #41 8 months ago

    "Spec 2.0 opening movie"

Exactly what is wrong with Polyphony.
Wasting there time on fluff like that when they should be fixing real issues
  • Miths #42 8 months ago

Exactly what does "G25/27 support" means, aside from adding their own options screen?
I know they aren't currently listed in the options menu, but I've been playing the game perfectly fine with my G25 - even the button layout can be changed by using the (if I recall correctly) DFP menu, so I can't really say I've ever missed any kind of official G25 support. But perhaps it's relevant for the G27 which has the additional buttons on the wheel?

I'm looking forward to the simplified interior view for standard cars. Tried as I have it just doesn't feel right for me to drive in hood/bumper cam - it feels like cheating with such a completely unobstructed view - so this could mean I can finally start using some of the standard cars.
  • Mr_Brown #43 8 months ago

Nice, that's a worth while update, improving the game rather than fixing bugs. Other developers should take note.
  • antikewl #44 8 months ago

I know it's been said over and over, but I'd love to see some old British classics added in there.

    Superb update though.

"Mid-race save feature for endurance races" All racing games need to have this.
  • shave_my_donkey #46 8 months ago

'Added a setting sheet feature allowing you to save multiple car settings'

    thank christ
  • jetsetwillie #47 8 months ago

    @hiscore

the only way they could fix those issues is to make GT5 for the PC
  • Darren #48 8 months ago

Ooooo, sounds like Polyphony Digital are getting closer to actually finishing Gran Turismo 5 then since the version that was released was evidently an unfinished beta that needed numerous patches to fix/improve it? ;)

I know that die-hard fans will claim otherwise but the fact is that if Forza Motorsport 4 is released in the same inconsistent messy state that GT5 was then I'll be criticising that too. GT5 wasn't that great anyway IMO; it might have been though if it had had another two years development.
  • steagz #49 8 months ago

    Forza 4 my arse

    Xbox 360 my arse

    Microsoft my arse

Everything gameing related that is not Sony and Nintendo MY ARSE
  • steagz #50 8 months ago

I have never understood what people get so excited about with raceing games. iv had gt5 since xmas and i think its been in my PS3 2wice. sometimes i even forget i have it in my collection
  • DrStrangelove #51 8 months ago

Sounds quite good, and then there's also the DLC coming. Can't wait.

    PS: screw you haters.
  • GamesConnoisseur #52 8 months ago

Gotta get back into GT5 once Spec 2.0 DLC out, but I ll say here that had fun with Forza 4 demo and intend to get that.

Can't I have fun and divide my time between GT5 and Forza 4 or other racing? Yep, sure I can, just as I can play few separate FPS, RPG and do on.

The list of stuff in dlc looks good.
  • Darksjeik #53 8 months ago

Mid race save for enduance races is a fantastic addition.
  • Pythonidae #54 8 months ago

This is great, however what I really wanted was some sort of a quick race option. Where I can set the track and any opposition I want. Now you either drive against time or race against 15 of the same car, which I don't like.

  • effinjamie #55 8 months ago

Still no feckin' friends Leaderboards! I really want to like this game but every time I put it on it takes about an hour to remember what a chore it is to actually play!
  • cheeky_BILLY #56 8 months ago

If this was Turn 10 and MS this update would be 1800MSP.
  • djronz. #57 8 months ago

Some of you lot are never satisfied, thats a pretty decent update, some really useful features and extra content thats free and you still moan!
Its obvious that polophony are nt pleased with how gt5 was released but remember they have little to gain from doing this updates, its not like it will generate sales and if its a direct response to the iminent forza4 release then great!

Looking forward to dlc especially the track pack (surely seattle circuit is included). Once that arrives i'll fire it up again.
  • TomDent93 #58 8 months ago

Everyone! Lets get theonlyix's comment to -100! Almost there......
  • Beano #59 8 months ago

    Darren, what happened to you?
  • mrblonde #60 8 months ago

Turn 10 made forza 4 in 2 years and probably at a fraction of the cost of GT5.
Going off the amazimg demo , it is equal if not better visually and game play wise to the 60 million, still unfinished 5 year GT5.
Really shows what a costly joke ps3 development is and turn 10 have made a mockery of the "360 maxed out" claims often made by the SDF.
  • DoctorFouad #61 8 months ago

wow great update ! especially interior views for standard cars ! finally !
  • SavageEvil #62 8 months ago

Lol, like I said in another post fanboys are shit heads. Get over yourselves, I played the demo for FM4. It looks great but alas it still can't shake that damn filter that Turn10 is bent on using that still make the visuals look cartoony, it's less cartoony that the other FM but it's still cartoony none the less. Anyway it was a fun romp, but it's to easy to drive even on the professional setting with AI on maximum. Will no doubt be an ace game when it arrives as I will have it come Oct 9th.

GT5 Update looks ace and addresses many issues with the game, unlike other games that shall remain nameless where certain gamebreaking things are never addressed through the entire online life of the game ahem 4WD swaps cough, cars that void PIand trounce other cars handily and dreaded leaderboard abused cars...unstoppable ACR Viper 4WD. You fools can bury your face in MS ass for all I care, PD is doing what Turn 10 does, listens to their community. Well I'm not sure which part of FM Community wanted Kinect added to FM but I digress. Fools crying about shadows and speed of loading, any one of you idiots have the update yet? No so how about you shut your shithole/piehole not sure which you are speaking through but based on your comments might be the prior :).

Anyway I do hope that PD continues to support GT5 and molds it continually, this is support. To the other pissants who like to cry unfinished game, you were born unfinished you tart. Next time try to be born full grown knowing everything and with everything fully accomplished, jackass. Complaining about how much money GT5 cost in relation to FM, how about we talk how much money did GT5 make in relation to FM 2 and 3? You will need both of them to compare to the sales of GT5 alone, while you can complain that GT5 lacked one general direction you can't fault them for coming back and staying on to correct wrongs and enhance all the same. I hate fools who like to complain all the time, shut up and do something worthwhile with your energy, like play that game you wanted to play. Coming here telling us which e-penis you much rather ride is retarded, I don't really care.

  • mumblyjoe #63 8 months ago

Hopefully G25 support means I can switch between flappy padle, sequential and h gate gears for the relevent cars
  • jefranklin18 #64 8 months ago

I notice on the EU blog they will also start bringing out DLC for it. Be interested to see what they have planned (and yes, I know it will be cars and tracks ;)
  • Beano #65 8 months ago

FM4 demo is great and graphics are nice and smooth without tearing. But the game (based on the demo) cant touch GT5 when it comes to detail and car physics, even with all assists turned off. Where Forza 4 succeeds over GT5 is consistancy and flexibility.
  • SavageEvil #66 8 months ago

@mumblyjoe, The G25 was always able to shift between paddle shifters and gated shifter. I do it all the time, they are all active simultaneously. Tired of using the gated shifter just use the paddles all without touching a button of pausing the game. I don't want them locking me into a specific gear shifter because that's dumb. There are many automatic only car in GT5 so why would I want to be forced to use that when I enjoy shifting on my own?

FM4 looks to be great as I said, but to me it just looks like an update to FM3, few more cars on screen to boot, demo only had 12 but I was sure they said 16 max for the full game. We'll see how the game unfolds when we run it to the max come the 9th.

What we don't see for GT5 is any mention of a livery editor. While we have no idea if it will show up, it's clear that it can be down as the multiple visual RM paint schemes. We'll have to wait and see if we get anything like that to personalize car to our own liking.
  • handsonhips101 #67 8 months ago

    @DJclownshoes;

we all know you hate this game, we all know you own an xbox and have never played it, so why bother?

as for selling demos: I paid £12.99 for a demo with 6 tracks, online racing and 40 odd cars. not bad at all. Plus it was my choice to do so. If people want to pay for prologue they will.

  • Vedfolner #68 8 months ago

It honestly depresses me that in a time where you get to pay two quid per downloaded car in most racing games out there, some people still take joy in bashing developers who continously support their game for free. You sad, sad people.
  • Beano #69 8 months ago

Just imagine if Codemasters did the same? ... maybe F1 ended up being playable.
  • Lucodeath #70 8 months ago

    @tomdent Did my bit.

Love GT5 but Forza is the mistress.

  • cyber_nicco #71 8 months ago

  • cyber_nicco #72 8 months ago

I said "cool" before I read any of the comments.

Let me just add that hiscore's comment is spot on. I enjoy GT5, but it has been a grand disappointment. The continued support is welcome, but it hasn't made huge inroads in some of the fundamentals that made the game merely good. That being said, the "improved physics and AI" promised in this update could fix all my most important complaints, but somehow I think it's too much to hope for...
