Dead Space 3 plot details leak

Isaac a shadow of former self.

Purported plot details from Dead Space 3 have leaked, detailing returning hero Isaac Clarke's deteriorating mental state.

EA's threequel will see the beleaguered engineer haunted by a secondary personality, according to fresh info from Siliconera.

Dubbed "Shadow Isaac", the apparition will haunt players throughout the game - similar to how Clarke's dead girlfriend Nicole popped up in Dead Space 1 and 2.

It's unclear whether Clarke is going insane or suffering the hallucinogenic effects of another alien "Marker".

Regardless, Clarke's shadow will be a constant presence throughout the game, taunting him for his failures.

Siliconera's source previously shared information on Dead Space 3's setting - a frozen planet named Tau Volantis. The latest leak suggests Isaac will travel there to escape arrest by futuristic military police EarthGov, presumably due to the events of Dead Space 2.

Dead Space 3 has yet to be formally announced by EA, although the publisher has made reference to a third Dead Space instalment, and TV cameras spotted a Dead Space 3 logo during a recent EA studio tour.

Dead Space 2.

Sounds good, always thought they should tone down the action and push it into an eternal darkness-style of game

I love Dead Space but I would prefer more survival-horror rather than shooter-horror. The undercarriage to the game should be survival and not killing everything (IMO).

I found DS2 a bit too action orientated. I hope they tone it down and focus more on the tension of DS.

I was going to say that I much preferred the slow action and tension of DS1 compared to the rollercoaster action of DS2, although sales for 2 would have been bigger because it was somewhat dumbed down.

But VG Chartz is showing sales for 1 are still bigger than 2. Colour me surprised, and hopeful for 3 returning to the older gameplay.

I agree, there were slightly too many contextual action sequences as opposed to navigating an open environment and surviving it.

There aren't enough genuinely scary horror games :(

I like the idea of a split personality Clarke - gives him someone to chat to while keeping him solitary.

If he's talkative as the real Isaac he'll taunt him through the medium of interpretive dance...

I've only played the first DS so far, but I like the completely new setting...

I seriously can't wait for this game, I had no idea I'd be this into the Dead Space series but the Resident Evil and Silent Hill games have of later been really sad. Also when is the next Condemned title being released?
  • M4RV #10 8 months ago

Again, I still think that the original Dead Space was pretty much one of the best games released back in 2008. The sequel was great even though I still wish I could have played Severed on the PC, but that's another story. My main issue with it is that the Sprawl, despite awesome both visually and in concept, is not as scary and / or intimadating as the Ishimura. Even worst is the fact that...

Once you go back to the Ishimura, you REALLY take that into account even further. Probably the best moment in the all game for me.

Still, here's hoping they don't "streamline" the experience even further.

I smell co-op. And not the good kind either. The F.E.A.R. 3 nonsensical kind.

Dead space: Accurate simulation of women 3

I wonder how many times we can expect to get backstabbed this time?

    yawn, new franchise please.
Even though it was becoming a silly slasher, so roll on DS20xJason for anyone that still interested by then.

Alien Marker? Sorry Eurogamer but the markers are man-made, with, maybe, the exception being the first one discovered but as far as I know Isaac never met thst one.

    @Spekkah

I don't think you know what the term 'slasher' means, but regardless I can confirm I'm interested in Dead Space x 'Jason' should you ever get that concept off the ground.

Oh lord... can't wait now. Dead Space can do with a little more inspiration from The Thing!! :)

It's still unclear whether the DS2 scenarist really understood what Nicole and the Marker were truly about in DS1, because in light of the crappy and awfully cliché DS2 ending, it appears the story treatment is vastly different between the two games.

If DS1 was Sphere, then DS2 was Event Horizon.
