Zombie Driver HD announced for PSN

UPDATE: XBLA, Tegra devices too.

UPDATE: The game's also coming to Xbox Live Arcade and Tegra 2 mobile devices, according to a press release that's just gone out, which also offers a late 2011 release window.

ORIGINAL STORY: Lunatic top-down racer Zombie Driver is making the jump from PC to PlayStation 3, Sony has announced.

Developed by indie outfit EXOR Studios and first released on PC back in 2009, the game sees you speeding around a post-apocalyptic wasteland mowing down hoards of the undead.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the PSN version is twice as long as the original, "adding epic boss fights, demolition missions, new enemies and special vehicles such as a fire truck, bulldozer and even a tank, as well as many more gameplay enhancements."

The camera system has also been refined, a level mini-map added and a new "recharging afterburner" included to help you out of tough spots.

As well as the core single player campaign, there's also Blood Race mode, which offers various multiplayer race events, while Slaughter mode drops you in an arena and tasks you with seeing off endless waves of zombies.

It's currently without a firm release date - check out the announcement trailer below while you're waiting.

No, it was PC only. Must have been a look-alike.

By the way, it's been announced for XBLA and Tegra 2 devices too.

I don't know why but I was hoping this would be zombie dlc for Driver: San Francisco.

Maybe Tanner could overhear a zombie film on the tv from his hospital bed?

    @Architect_z

    Was it not renegade ops?
  • Architect_z #5 8 months ago

Grrrr, I remember it had cars and zombies in it. I just can't remember for the life of me what it was called. (No it wasn't renegade ops, im afriad.)

Was this any good, I mean I have it off Steam and I've played about 2 hours of it.... but was it any good?
  • Malek86 #10 8 months ago

@wizlon: the camera almost made me puke, but otherwise it's decent. Not much meat to it, though.

I have it on PC. Maybe I'll buy it again for PS3, if the price is right. Free additional blood race mode was fun. Original on PC never had any kind of multiplayer...
Also, PS3 makes sense - original is an OpenGL game heavy on physics. Exactly the stuff that's easily done on PS3. It has very low system requirements though, just about anything will run it.

However, 2 points. How is this HD? I've played original in 1440x900, is it not HD? And I loved that game didn't have any bosses at all. I fear bosses will ruin it.

Edit: I wonder why post is getting -1 rep? It looks like people just like minus you for no reason on this site.

Gotta say, as much as I love a good zombie game or film, it's starting to feel like every other downloadable title has to have zombies in it. At least this is a little different though in so far as it's driving instead of running around shooting/pummelling.

So says the guy with Zombie in his alias!!

Zombies sell, everybody loves the apocalyptic thought of being chased by undead cannibals, and everyone loves the thought of having a fully loaded shotgun to handle the situation.
But yes, every game seems to have some form of zombie/zombie mode. Even Bomberman Ultra has a zombie mode!?
