Square Enix's final fantasy.

Forget Final Fantasy, Square Enix has invented a miniature arcade cabinet for your iPad.

The "iNVADERCADE" turns an ordinary iPad dock into an arcade cabinet with high sides, joystick, buttons, speakers, headphone socket and everything.

The Invadercade also serves as a dock to recharge your iPad tablet - it's not useless.

Both Old iPad and Current iPad are supported, and there's an AC power adaptor and dedicated USB cable stuffed in.

Now the cost: Ł150.

The Invadercade is due out "late 2011".

I see only one button.
Nice to play: Space Invaders, Moon Cresta, Galaxian.
But nothing else.
You must put at least 6 buttons.
I don't want to talk about the price...

This looks like the iCade.

Which retails for Ł80...

That's three mutually incompatible bluetooth / dock connector digital control solutions for iPad arcade games, now. I really wish Apple (or some thirdparty with sufficient clout) would just agree an external digital joypad standard so I can buy a nice slip-on iPhone cover with a set of buttons on it.

That's my main wish for iOS, but I've a feeling in this regard I'm going to be disappointed, a week on Tuesday.

I actually bought a Tegra 2 Android tablet for less than this peripheral, would still buy the iCade if I had an iPad though.

Excellent, now make a 6-button one for SFII/IV, and a twin analogue one for other games.

Also - there are no STANDARDS for these things. What will actually WORK with this?

I have an iCade. The games I currently use with it are the Atari collection; asteroids is great . Not sure about wider compatibilty, but it's actually just a blue tooth controller. For those interested, the Joystick/buttons are the real deal. Quite awesome.
