I'm all for change (I'm apparently one of the few that liked the splinter cell change before they wussed out and what back to the drawing board), but they've clearly lost the NOIR in this.

A lot of people have said this, but Noir, much like the Western, has actually grown beyond it's cliched (and tired) setting and mise-en-scene, hence the genre neo-noir. These screenshots show that maybe Max Payne has too. I think the new Max looks awesome. The only thing you can assume about a broken down old fat man in his line of work is this: He's a survivor.

I love the originals but I'm also glad Rockstar are brave enough to allow the concept to grow and change, rather than knocking out a stagnant rehash for a fistful of cash. Everyone gets annoyed when the next iteration of COD is the same as the last, yet when developers take chances (like with Max Payne or, indeed, Splinter Cell), everyone has a hissy fit. Mental.
