New Yoshi, Ace Attorney for 3DS - report

Game demos also incoming.

A Yoshi side-scroller and a new entry in the Ace Attorney series are among the games Nintendo plans to show off at its Tokyo 3DS showcase next week, so says a reported Japanese leak.

According to a story on Japanese gaming blog Hachimaki and translated by Gematsu, the platform holder will also announce a game demo service for the system, an Etrian Odyssey sequel and a new title from WarioWare/Advanced Wars studio Intelligent Systems.

Here's the full list of reported announcements:

  • New Monster Hunter exclusively for 3DS with support for online play
  • New Yoshi side-scroller from Kirby's Epic Yarn developer Good-Feel
  • New game from the developer of WarioWare
  • New Etrian Odyssey
  • Hatsune Miku 3DS, with all the songs from Project DIVA and its sequel
  • DS's The Silver Case, from Grasshopper Manufacture, has been moved to 3DS
  • eShop demo announcement, with a Super Mario 3D Land trial confirmed
  • The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords release date announcement
  • The latest 3DS project from Alchemist, developer of Umineko and Gal Gun, for 3DS
  • A fifth Ace Attorney, including an Edgeworth scenario
  • A new God Eater title, which will also launch on PlayStation Vita

That Monster Hunter tip has already been confirmed as the real deal. A separate set of rumours earlier this week also point towards new Baten Kaitos and Mach Rider titles for the handheld.

We'll find out for sure next Tuesday at around 3.00am UK time. Set your alarm clocks.

A new AA is cool, but it would be awesome if made another new adventure style game, Ghost Trick was the best game I played on my 3DS, and it's not even a 3DS game!

Please please please announce a new F zero :(

Why do Ninty even bother with conferences? Might as well just release everything as leaks. GameCentral knew about the WiiU before its reveal because someone had blabbered about it.

I didn't the comma in headline when I was skim-reading the front page. I am now disappointed.

Looking forward to demo releases. Not sure why Nintendo have always been so against them.

Not quite as pleased with the 2nd analogue stick 'mock up' hopefully it's fake.

All I can say us Fuck yes for the SM3DL trail and yoshi game
  • KDR_11k #8 9 months ago

I guess Capcom won't bother localizing this Ace Attorney game either.

The second Edgeworth game was never released outside Japan or was it? I quite enjoyed the first one and of course all the other Ace Attorney games before that.

I am also really looking forward to a new Advance Wars. Hopefully it will return to the more colorful roots and drop the style of the last one. Dual Strike (or whatever the first DS one was called) was good but Advance Wars 2 on the GBA is still my personal favorite.

    @Der_tolle_Emil

Yeah, they didn't see fit to release Edgeworth 2 outside of Japan. I'm reserving my excitement for whatever this one turns out to be until international releases are confirmed.

I still hate you Nintendo (early adopter). I'd rather jerk owf in a crisp bag then play another AA.

I won't be pleased if Capcom announce that they won't localise this new Ace Attorney game either. First Layton vs. AA then Investigations 2... do they even care about the international fans anymore? Well I care. I love this series and would hate to see Capcom ruin this for us.

Ace Attorney 3DS? YES! As a huge fanboy of the series, this news has pretty much made my day. I wonder if it'll be an entirely original game or a localised version of Gyakuten Kenji 2 ported to the 3DS? Either would be great, although I am starting to worry about Apollo -- it's been four years since we've had a 'traditional' Ace Attorney game with courtrooms.

    Regardless, :D
  • Silent-Hal #14 9 months ago

It says 'fifth Ace Attorney' so it'll be Gyakuten Saiban 5 most likely. I too would like to see Apollo return. He's only had one game so far (a damn good one at that) and his story doesn't seem over just yet.

Etrian Odyssey and whatever Intelligent Systems are working on are what I'll be looking forward to.

Hopefully it'll be a new EO, rather than a port of one of the DS games. Although any of them would look great in 3D with a bit of polish on the corridor sections.

A new Yoshi? Sounds good: I get the impression Yoshi is a character we don't see much of in a protagonist context. Here's also hoping the new IS game is a new WarioWare. One that shows off all the 3DS' bells and whistles.
  • SuicideLoveStory #17 9 months ago

Hatsune Miku 3DS? Great news as I enjoyed the PSP games however with the 3DS region locking I doubt I'll get to play it.
  • Centrifugal #18 9 months ago

The 'Edgeworth' scenario actually reads more like 'Gyakuten Kenji scenario' in Japanese, which means it might have the same sort of gameplay for one of the cases; in other words, outside the courtroom, investigative, etc. Or it could even mean a scenario written by one of the GK writers.

    Damn you, ambiguously phrased Japanese.

    A new Yoshi :DDD

My decision to buy a 3DS was a good one!
  • silversun #20 9 months ago

Ace attorney was the best game on the ds and the first 3 where great investigations is ok but lacked the courtroom which was main draw of the games.

Is Layton vs. AA really not going get a translation? , that will be tragic if that happens. shame investigation 2 did not get one but would suck if the two other new 3ds ones did not get translated , they are some best games on ds.
  • alcides #21 9 months ago

The Edgeworth games in the Ace Attorney universe lack good detective novel writing. The first 3 are actually case studies for the genre. Great stuff all the way, but I have to admit the 1rst and 3rd Phoenix Wright deserve the most cred.

Also I very sad I will have to miss a fifth (seventh?) installment since there's no way I'm comming near that 3DS failure.
  • RawNinjaKid #22 9 months ago

just please dump that additional Right stick idea! It makes N look clumsy.

  • Pwnsweet #23 9 months ago

For all the negative things I've said about 3DS so far, if the rumour about a new Ace Attorney coming out is true, I will be forced to buy a 3DS. If the game is released in English before a 3DS lite is released, then so be it I'll buy the disgusting version of the 3DS if it means I can play a new Ace Attorney. Shu Takumi is a living god.
  • Lukree #24 9 months ago

    More Advance Wars, please!
  • Eurolamer #25 9 months ago

Who else read that as 'Yoshi, Ace Attorney'? I know we're about to see Street Fighter vs Tekken but that would be the Capcom mashup to end all mashups. 'OBJECTION' replaced by http://bit.ly/nri8Rl

@Astro-Creature: Afaik this is the few Four Swords mentioned some time ago as part of the Zelda Anniversary. No need to complain about it...

    A new title?
    A new M-Mach Rider??

I'm not getting up early next Wednesday morning, that's for sure.
