The Secret World beta registration open
Web game The Secret War detailed.
Beta registration for Funcom MMO The Secret World is now open.
You can now put your name down to be evaluated for participation in the upcoming beta phases, due to run up to the launch of the game in April 2012.
Funcom will increase the number of beta participants gradually, it said.
Meanwhile, the first phase of web game The Secret War has begun. It's designed to get you involved in the conflict between the Templars, the Illuminati, and the Dragon - the three factions in The Secret World - before the game is released.
To do this you take a personality test to determine which secret society you belong to. You then choose which society to join.
The second phase of this spin-off will let you unlock guaranteed beta access, achievements and exclusive in-game items. You can recruit friends and deploy them as agents, scoring points for your society.

Such a shame that so many developers are trying to shoehorn social media into their games.

a beta candidate. As such it is not necessary for you to re-register through the first phase of The Secret War experience if you only want to be considered for beta.
However, even if you are already signed up, we still strongly encourage you to re-register through the first phase of The Secret War experience. Doing so will allow you to participate
in phase two, where you will get to expand the influence of your secret society through a web-based community game where you can unlock achievements, in-game rewards usable at launch,
and even guaranteed beta access. Re-registration for this is required due to the many social networking features included in phase two. We suggest registering with the same e-mail you
registered with earlier."

I'm already registered so I'll skip this. It's still a bad move by FunCom, forcing new registrants to use Facebook.
