EU gets Limited Ed Skyward Sword bundle

Only available to those who pre-order.

Nintendo has confirmed that the special edition of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which includes a gold, Zelda-branded Wii Remote, will launch in Europe.

The bundle includes a copy of the game, a music CD featuring selected songs from The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony, and a golden Wii Remote Plus controller bearing the Hylian Crest. Note that the golden Wii Remote Plus will simply be golden in colour and will not contain any actual precious metals. You know, just in case you were wondering.

To get it, you need to pre-order the game, due out in November. "Stocks are limited and the limited edition bundle will only be available to fans who pre-order before release across Europe on 18th November," Nintendo said this morning.

If you don't pre-order but purchase the game early at launch, you'll receive a copy of the game and a copy of the music CD available in the limited edition bundle. But you'll need to be quick off the mark, Nintendo said, as this game and CD special edition is only available while stocks last. Once the game and CD special edition is sold out, fans will receive a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword only.

In the US the Limited Edition costs $69.99 (around £42).

But where can I pre-order this delicious treat?
  • JoeGBallad #2 9 months ago

Is it an exclusive preorder bonus or is it available everywhere?
  • TruSmiles #3 9 months ago

Ooh do want. I'm a sucker for game soundtracks and I think my motion-plus add-on was stolen so I definitely need a new one.

I'll be surprised if this isn't a GAME exclusive though.

Fruit-Salad was this close to pre-ordering.

Call me a snob (don't) but I say anything gold that isn't actually made of gold tends to look rather tacky, rather quickly.

Shut it, all my old gold-plastic zelda cartridges look AMAZING
  • apoc_reg #8 9 months ago

Without the other half of the controller that'll just look naff!
  • Paulie_P #9 9 months ago

As long as you don't have to preorder from GAME still waiting on Deus Ex :'(
  • Der_tolle_Emil #10 9 months ago

Don't care too much about the Wiimote. I have two Motion+ addons and while I'd prefer to have them built-in instead of being an attachment I'm not sure if I need yet another Wiimote, especially since there will only be two more Wii games (Pandora's Tower and Last Story) after this.

I really, really want the CD though.
  • Ignatius_Cheese #11 9 months ago

@Der_tolle_Emil - Agreed. It's all about the soundtrack CD! I may have to pre-order just to ensure I get this.
  • Razz #12 9 months ago

You will be able to download the mp3 from that CD in the usual places.
  • LazyDan #13 9 months ago

Remember folks - you'll need the exact same Wiimotes for the Wii-U too! I'm wondering how much better my life would be if my Wii-U was flanked by four gold Wiimotes.

...Not much better to be honest, but SHINY!
  • Ignatius_Cheese #14 9 months ago

Yeah Razz, but you can't keep ripped MP3s on a shelf and stare at them lovingly, can you ;o)

That or stick them on eBay and make a killing.
  • Donaldthescotishtwin #15 9 months ago

I already pre-ordered it last month at game so I guess I'm set
  • Mister-Wario #16 9 months ago

I was going to get this to go with my gold controller, but I've come to the conclusion I'm not that big a Zelda fan. I can understand the appeal of a limited edition CD, but can't you just put it up for download as well? I love the Mario Galaxy soundtrack, but I don't want to have to spend hundreds of pounds to get the necessary Stars for it on Club Nintendo.

I'll be interested to see how much it costs. My estimates are about £70.

Could EG clarify things a bit ?

When I read "To get it, you need to pre-order the game", I understand every preorder for the game will be automatically upgraded to a limited edition, for no additional cost. As is the case for Dark Souls for example.

Meanwhile, the US limited edition is definitely a different product, with its own price.

So, which proposition is true ?

    a) I only have to preorder SS to get the whole bundle ? (for cheap)
    b) I have to wait for stores to have a specific reference and price for the bundle ? (which will obviously be a bit more expensive)

B has seemed obvious until now but the article has me wondering.

The wording is very vague, but I very much doubt they're giving us a free wii remote plus. It'll be a separate "limited edition" bundle that will cost extra. I'd love to be wrong, of course.

I've bought the soundtrack to Ocarina of Time (had to import it from the US, who imported it from Japan :S)... totally worth it
  • Geowolf #20 9 months ago

Is this just like the posters for Xenosaga? Tell everyone they'll get it if they preorder and after launch tell them that it was just for those who bought it in store? No thanks, Nintendo. As far as your preorder claims are concerned, your post-release backtracking renders any suggested benefit for preordering mute.

£40 on Zavvi, bargain. You just know Game will be selling the standard version in store for the same amount.

EDIT: Looks like I got in quick enough to get it for £39.99 as it's showing as £49.85 now. Lucky me.

It would appear the £40 was an error, it's gone up to £60, now. Still not too bad for a game and a wiimote+
  • Ignatius_Cheese #23 9 months ago

Down to £49.85. Will be worth hanging around to see if anyone drops it further.

Still, will put in a tentative pre-order now.

Siliconera says "The version bundled with a controller will cost $70, while the regular version will cost $50."

I don't need another Wiimote, but this is rather tempting. It will be an Xmas present for me so may as well bump it up to the limited :p

PS (I hope the game is good!)
  • YenRug #26 9 months ago

    @Geowolf

They did something similar with Monster Hunter Tri: announced you would get a monster head figurine with every pre-order, but then failed to mention that it was only pre-orders made with GAME.
  • Ignatius_Cheese #27 9 months ago

Funny, when you click on the "Pre-Order" button on the ad banner it takes you to Amazon.co.uk, who currently do not have the bundle available for order.
  • Silvergun-Blue #28 9 months ago

For those preordering from Zavvi, put VCCOUKZAV in the discount code entry field. got me £3 off, not much but better than a kick in the nuts.
  • SuicideLoveStory #29 9 months ago

@Silvergun-Blue - Thanks for the mentioning the voucher code, £3 off is better than nothing.
