Limbo dev's next is 3.5 years away
Playdead: "A good game takes time."
Limbo developer Playdead's next project "will take at least three and a half years", so says the Danish studio's co-founder Dino Patti.
"A good game takes time," he explained to Edge.
There's no word on exactly what form the title will take, though business partner Arnt Jensen added that it's being built with the Unity Engine rather than its own in-house tech.
"It's like having a double product, doing both engine and game. And our next project is a little more ambitious than Limbo so there are a lot of things we don't want to make from the beginning."
Limbo, which released on XBLA last summer, before heading to PSN and Steam last month, won universal acclaim for its distinctive visuals, dark humour and clever puzzle-platforming. Refer back to Eurogamer's 9/10 Limbo review for more.

I hope this means Limbo made them enough cash that they can afford to make a game of such scope it will take that long. Good for them!

On your way back from the cryo-lab remember to pick up a PS4/NeXtbox.
3.5 years is definitely next-gen.

You hear that you other developers who rush games out and are complaining it doesn't sell...

People should lay off with the ripping on big devs though. I know it's "cool" to hate on AAA games, but there are still a lot of very enjoyable titles out there from the big studious. Plus, Limbo was great, but for 3.5 years they'd better fire out something better, or at least longer. 3.5 years for another Limbo would be bloody ridiculous.

They must have been asleep for most of that last year as well judging by how tedious the last hour of the game is.
