Shoot Many Robots for XBLA, PSN, PC

Mechs probably history.

Ubisoft has announced Shoot Many Robots, a side-scrolling shoot 'em up for PC, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

The game features four-player co-operative run-n-gun action across two modes: Traversal, where players progress linearly through a level, and Survival, where players fight against waves of robot hordes.

You play as P. Walter Tugnut, a beefcake hero armed with a shotgun and jetpack. Your goal - to shoot many robots.

There's a whole army of mechanical minions to blast through, from the swarms of dinky-looking Chopper (scuttling chainsaws with legs) to the diesel-spewing Big Daddy-esque Fat Boy.

Development is being headed up by Demiurge Studios, an outfit usually found providing back up dev duties for larger projects.

Demiurge helped design Borderland's Arena mode, early art and level design in BioShock, and provided gamers with the PC port of the original Mass Effect.

Shoot Many Robots is currently labelled with a vague "2012" release date.
