Wii Zelda: Skyward Sword release date

Joins the November huddle.

Nintendo's long-awaited Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword finally arrives in Europe on 18th November.

Skyward Sword sees the usual Hylian adventuring uprooted to a world in the clouds.

It is also set earlier than any other Zelda game to date, and will chronicle the story of Link constructing the series' legendary Master Sword.

The game has been in development for the entirety of the Wii's life.

The previous Zelda for home consoles, Twilight Princess, was developed for GameCube but had a Wii port ready at the system's launch.

The latest Skyward Sword footage.

It's going to get fucking slaughtered in November.
  • kinky_mong #4 9 months ago

Same day as Saints Row 3, and a week after Skyrim. Do I wait until Christmas for it or binge on all those three on a week off?
  • Apaar #5 9 months ago

This game and Skyrim, and I'll be set for the holidays. Two high quality fantasy epics with dozens and dozens of hours of content. Though I may be tempted to play Uncharted 3 as well.

Ahh dammit! There are already too many games coming out in November! Guess I'll be living on baked beans on toast for a few months.

    Brilliant, cheers Nintendo.

I want this game and appreciate that it will also run on the Wii U, thanks to backward compatibility, but can't help wishing that it had been delayed as a launch title for the new console next year. The E3 HD footage is fresh in my mind and though the game looks good on the Wii, I know it would look much better on the Wii U in HD. (I really wish Nintendo had not shown that footage to be honest...)

Does anyone know if there are any plans to release an enhanced Wii U version next year because if there is then I may wait as I don't really use my Wii for games anymore (last one I played was Klonoa in March 2010!!!).

Damn I was hoping for October, but will still get this over Skyrim, even though I'm sure that'll be great too.

About chuffing time, this will be only the fifth wii title I buy... Mario galaxy 1and2, metroid prime corruption, Mario kart and now zelda. Are there any other titles I should have bought or have missed out on? A

    @Zero_g

Monster Hunter Tri, Smash Brothers Brawl, Donkey Kong Country Returns, New Super Mario Bros. There's also Xenoblade, which is out this week and sounds amazing.

Surprised you guys haven't yet run an article about the confirmation of The Last Story and Pandora's Tower for Europe in 2012

@Zero_g Sin and Punishment 2, Fragile Dreams, Little King's Story, No More heroes 1 + 2, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Zack & Wiki FFCC: Crystal Bearers, Metroid Prime Trilogy and Epic Mickey to name but a few faves

Really? I dont think so. There's nothing else in Nov at that magnitude on Wii. and even for those of s that have multiple formats theres always a little room for Zelda!

@Introvertigo Sharp eyes on you sir. Fixed!

Oh god! My wallet! So that makes my November list...

10th - Tales of the Abyss
    11th - Skyrim
    15th - Ass' Creed Revo'
    15th - Halo Anniversary
    18th - Zelda SS

And that's not including November releases without exact dates, like Mario 3D land and Sonic Generations. November is insane this year!
  • Incarta #16 9 months ago

Oh, and Last Story and Pandora's Tower were confirmed by a high up at Nintendo France. It's hardly exact confirmation but does leave us in suspense. No doubt someone at Ninty will confirm or deny Nintendo France's claim shortly.

If they bundle this with that new Wii console they've just announced and Tesco/Asda manage to sell it for £99 I'm there day one. Wanted a Wii for ages but could never justify buying another console just for a handful of games. There's always some mental offers around on HUKD around Xmas so I'm sure something is going to pop up sooner or later.

It's going to get fucking slaughtered in November.

By whom? Personally speaking, other games are getting slaughtered by Zelda. That and Skyrim.
  • TheEarlOfZinger #19 9 months ago

Disagree, I want this game, but it's at the back of a potentially long queue.

    deus ex
    ico collection
    Skyrim
    bf3
    uncharted 3

Finally!! I've been waiting for what feels like forever for a confirmed release date. This does change things considerably though. All those games I had planned on playing throughout November have now been put on hold for a later date. I really feel spoilt for choice heading in to Christmas, it's a good time to be a gamer. It's just unfortunate I'm not a rich gamer!
  • Centrifugal #21 9 months ago

Oh, great. Now I have to stock even more provisions to keep me going whilst I play all the amazing games in November without leaving my house.

Now, all I need to do is develop some sort of four-week long disease to get me out of work for a while...
  • scouserfuller9 #22 9 months ago

The bit I find best is we get it three days before the USA :-D
  • FenderMaster #23 9 months ago

After 5 years in development (longer than any other Zelda title) this needs to be reall really good, but even if it disappoints, it will still be a fun satisfying title.

    Zelda SS
    Batman Arkham City
    Uncharted 3
    and maybe Deus Ex: HR

will be my winter/christmas games list.

Asfor Wii games, Disaster Day of Crisis is awful, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles isn't great either.
I'd reccomend Super Paper Mario, Little Kings Story, and Maybe DKR or NSMB Wii if you're after 2D platforming action. I'd pass on SSBB, it's not great, and Epic Mickey.

OMG Segoi!!! looking forward to November now;D
