Tomorrow for 24 quid.
The Splinter Cell HD Trilogy will be released on the PlayStation Store tomorrow, Ubisoft has announced.
The games - Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - will cost €9.99/£7.99 individually or €29.99/£23.99 bundled together.
A Blu-ray disc with the games on will be released "at a later date", wrote Ubisoft product manager Akshay Paul on the European PlayStation blog.
The Splinter Cell HD Trilogy revitalises the last-generation Splinter Cell games in 1080p resolution and with stereoscopic 3D. Trophies have also been slung in.
PlayStation Plus subscribers will be offered 20 per cent off individual title Splinter Cell and 10 per cent off Pandora Tomorrow. Chaos Theory comes with an exclusive theme that features Sam Fisher - the hero of the games.
Eurogamer's Splinter Cell review dished out 9/10 back in 2003.
Eurogamer's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow review awarded 8/10 in 2004.
Eurogamer's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory review, written in 2005, also deemed an 8/10 appropriate.

Best installment of the series.... never since has there been a good multiplayer as great as chaos theory, everything has diminished since.

Plus members actually get it a decent amount cheaper than retail.
More of this, please.

When we started this project, one of our main aims was to provide the players with the best possible content. Therefore, we decided to port the game from the PC version, which had more content and detail compared to the PS2 version.

To buy HD ports for the consoles that are already available on PC are to me a pure waste of money. The PC versions are so much cheaper. That said, I do look forward to the Ico & SotC for the PS3 a great deal.

I ask as I know the ps2 games for PAL were bordered 50hz as opposed to NTSC 60hz therefore, if these are the PAL version games upscaled to HD, will it play like the NTSC counterparts?
(IonOnion, I know you've highlighted that it's a port from the PC version and there aren't any PAL or NTSC issues with the PC so i'm hopeful someone says buying the PAL version will be absolutely fine, with no slowdown or other issues etc)

Because if it hadn't come out on ps2 beforehand there wouldn't be an xbox version.

As for all the 360-only whingers moaning about this being a PS3 exclusive - MS are always bagging the timed exclusives, so you're just getting a taste of it for once. As always, the best option is to own both consoles!

You're wrong there my friend.
Although Splinter Cell wasn't an XBOX launch title, it was released around 4 - 6 months afterwards. It was also a timed exclusive for the XBOX with the PS2 version released roughly 6 months later. I also hate to inform you, but the XBOX version was graphically vastly superior to the PS2 version. But you could argue that was due to the port possibly being out sourced to a separate studio. In fact the XBOX versions of all the Splinter Cell games were visually better than it's PS2 brother. But still great games.
