Pac-Man 3DS does let you delete saves
Namco Bandai cites "miscommunication".
You CAN delete game save data in Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions on Nintendo 3DS, Namco Bandai has confirmed.
To do so, you need to press "ABXYLR" when you boot the game.
Last week Wired reported it was impossible to delete game save data in the arcade game compliation.
Yesterday that report was confirmed by a Namco Bandai representative talking to Shacknews.
Today, however, Namco Bandai said it is possible to delete game save data.
"There has been a miscommunication at our level," the publisher told Eurogamer. "Thanks for your understanding."

Don't worry mate, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding other reasons. The fact that it exists is probably a good place to start.

Very naughty of you not to include a testing debug tool in your promo material for the game.
I hope this code is printed in your game manual, as I'm sure the release of the code isn't an after thought after you have had all the nice glossy manuals printed is it?
You wouldn't do anything tacky like put a small piece of paper in the game box with an addendum to the manual to include this code would you?
...and finally...has anyone tested this code to see if it works with Res evil mercs ?

AND 20 free games for existing users!?
Yeh, no thanks.

Cartridge resets via a button combination have been around for years. Presumably it's to avoid accidental trips to the menu, although my sister managed to reset my Japanese F Zero Advance when she happened to be holding L&R when it started, and didn't realise the text that came up said "Do you want to delete everything?".
