First Duke Nukem Forever DLC announced
New maps and multiplayer modes incoming.
Gearbox Software has lifted the lid on the first set of Duke Nukem Forever DLC.
The Hail to the Icons Parody Pack arrives this Autumn, adding four new multiplayer maps and a handful of new game modes.
As detailed over on the game's official forum, the new maps are as follows:
- Call of Duke – Duke engages in modern combat in a war-torn city. Foes don’t stand a chance against the Duke when he spams the map with the N00b T00b.
- Sandpit – Players take the role of mini-Duke in a giant sandbox with two bases at either end made out of children’s toys. This map features Sticky Bombs.
- Inferno – Time machine engage! Duke does combat in a hellish landscape of lava and teleporters. Who turned on the 16-bit graphics, and more importantly, where did this DFG come from?
- 2Forts1Bridge – Hats? Duke doesn’t need no stinking hats. Give him a minigun and he’ll beat off all comers.
As for the new modes, Freeze Tag sees players teaming up to freeze and shatter their opponents for point streaks and combos; Hot Potato tasks you with attempting to hold on to "the babe" for as long as possible; and Hail to the King is a free-for-all.
No word on a price yet, other than that all First Access Club members who registered before the game launched in their country get free access.
In case you'd forgotten, the resuscitated shooter's long-anticipated release left critics somewhat underwhelmed earlier this year. Revisit our Duke Nukem Forever review to find out why.

Yes, I'm one of people who enjoyed DNF. Not as good as I've expected, but alright, better this than no DNF at all.

note: (I'm not saying it's okay and neither will I pirate it, I'n just curious as to other peoples' opinions. If I do buy the game however, it'll be used; I don't want them getting any money from me for this tripe.)

Because i've played it - and it's no where near as bad as you're making out.. single player lasts a lot longer than "certain other" popular fps games i could mention too...
But i guess it's currently "cool" to slag it off.. so carry on...

I would welcome an expansion pack for single player even buggy levels that were omitted. I would like to see more of the original content.

I have played all of the COD's now and I can honestly say I found Black ops a bore after playing DNF.
I have absolutely no desire to play through BLOPS again ever.
Where as I did re-play COD4, MW2 and DNF on the highest difficulty because I enjoyed them.
DNF gave me more fun despite the load times.
