Machinarium coming to iPad this year

Point and click port "almost finished".

An iPad version of acclaimed indie PC adventure Machinarium arrives on the App Store later this year, creator Jakub Dvorský has confirmed.

The Amanita Design boss told Pocket Gamer that he hopes to have the game on sale some time in August, insisting the port is "almost finished, but we still need to fix a lot of small bugs and test it properly. It should be ready during the next month...hopefully."

As revealed earlier this year, a PlayStation 3 version is also in the works though Microsoft has showed no interest in an Xbox Live Arcade release.

Dvorský's quirky adventure won a glowing 8/10 from Eurogamer's Dan Whitehead when it first launched on PC back in 2009.

"Machinarium is a treat for the senses that demands more of your brain, a paradoxically gentle yet punishing riff on a genre that, until now, had been revived but sadly defanged for modern players," read his Machinarium review.

    What a fantastic game, with some very difficult brain teasers; love the cheat / hint mechanic too. Should be brilliant on the iPad too.

    As long as this version is directly sold by the developer, and the crapy Lace Mamba (publisher of the UK edition) doesnt get a cent out of this, im happy. Those amateurs F****-Up the DVD version with faulty discs, and then just refused to issue an refund. Blacklisted forever as a publisher

    Just a shout out for this game..

    If you have an iPad (i don't boo!) buy this, best original, quirky (plain weird at times, in a good way) & some of the best original music i have ever heard in a game..

    An essential purchase if you have never played it.

    Easily the most overrated adventure game of the last decade. It's extremely short (three hours), it doesn't break new grounds, it's just anice to look at classic adventure game that happened to be released on Steam where stupid Americans, who had not gotten any new classic adventure games since LucasArts stopped making them (where we in Europe never had such problems with Secret Files, Runaway, Ankh, Syberia, Black Mirror, Edna and hundreds more). They only know Telltale games and Machinarium over there and think it's the best there ever was (because it's the only thing there ever was).

    Machinarium is not a bad game. There are just so many classic adventure games that are much better.

    Now all we need is Revolution to release their glut of adventures (originals and remastered) onto PSN.

    @darth_paul:

    Huh, where all copies of the DVD faulty? I recently bought one new off Ebay, for the included concept art, poster and soundtrack (I already owned the Steam version). And I like just owning a game as a real thing. I haven't installed the it yet because, well, I have it on Steam. I guess I'll have to try it out later when I have the time. :/
