AC: Revelations Collector's Ed. detailed

Plus, super-deluxe Animus Edition.

Ubisoft has revealed details of two separate special editions of Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

The Collector's Edition features a 50-page artbook, the game's soundtrack and a copy of animated movie Assassin's Creed: Embers (trailered below) which expands on the tale of franchise protagonist Ezio Auditore.

On top of that, there's also the obligatory additional in-game content. You get two additional multiplayer characters - the Ottoman Jester and The Crusader – and access to the prison of Vlad the Impaler, where you'll be able to pilfer a new close-quarters dagger.

The Animus Edition includes an in-depth franchise encyclopedia, a copy of Embers, the above in-game extras and a few more besides. You'll get capacity upgrades for your hidden gun bullets, bombs and crossbow arrows; and the Armour of Brutus from Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

The Collector's Edition will set you back £59.99 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and £49.99 on PC, through the UbiShop.

The Animus Edition, on the other hand, goes for £68.99 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and £59.99 on PC, through UbiShop or GameStop's UK site.

Embers will also be available as a separate download from PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Pricing and release date for that are yet to be confirmed.

This year's entry in the Assassin's Creed saga is due out on 15th November.

    I'll be getting the Cheapskate Edition, which includes the normal game for around £20 and will be out in early 2012 when I've actually got time to play the latest installment in this milked franchise.

    Another year another Assassins Creed. It's amazing these games get better with each instalment - they really should give it a rest after this one though.

    I'll take the regular edition please. I like the series, but give em an inch..

    I'm a bit gutted an edition with an Ezio figure hasn't been announced yet

    They won't, as the Mayan 2012-doomsday thingiewas revealed to be quite a plot point at the end of Brotherhood. Don't think they'll release in 2013 with a story arc that's outdated allready.

    My two cents: AC3 in november 2012 will probably the last of the 'trilogy' (Altair-story, Ezio stories and the-new-guy-who-will-star-in-another-age-probably-french-revolution-story form the three parts), maybe they'll have a break then

    Love these games but Ubisoft only gets my £15 in the new year sales.

    Why is every other 'news' story now about a goddamn special edition?

    Loved ACII, but Brotherhood left me really cold - it came out too soon after II and was too samey. Will get this eventually, just not on launch day like the other two. Buying the codex edition for Brotherhood was a huge mistake - it was bloody rubbish. The codex was half-arsed, not at all like the sensational journal that came with the Halo: Reach CE.

    Don't care what people say, those editions look great, a animated movie, franchise encyclopedia, really good content imo, rather than the usually, heres something we cut out of the game and made you pay extra for it.

    Looks like they put real thought into it.

    Already preordered the Animus edition for the series Encyclopedia. It's just a pity it will be outdated next year, but I think I'm in this series for the long run, if they keep up the quality like it's been up until now.

    2 words, Jesper Kyd. Day 1 buy.

    Lots of collectors editions these days.

    To be honest, I quite like the sound of the Animus edition. Big encyclopaedia (hope its hardback, but I doubt it), artbook, etc. Some of the music in the series is absolutely sublime as well so I'm tempted by the soundtrack.

    It's a shame that most big collector's editions don't give real value for money though. If you want an example of collector's editions that really give bang for the buck, the only ones I can think of are The Witcher 2 and pretty much anything that Blizzard puts out.

    @darkmorgado - actually i think the Artbook comes with the Collectors edition and the encyclopedia comes with the Animus version,in other words whichever version you get,you wont get both(unless you buy both versions of course)

    EDIT:and yes the Encyclopedia is Hardback...i posted this on gamingtrend last month when OXM.co.uk had the same story and pictures

    I just want a better retailer to have the animus edition since with ubistore etc dout they'll send it for release day :/ (and don't they take payment right away ?)
  • winstoninabox #17 10 months ago

    @Daeltaja
    ACB was too samey? The Borgia Towers, the Tank, the Navel Cannon, the Machine Gun, using the Apple, training the assassin and using the assassins ingame are all new to the series. Papel Guards too I think.
    Whether you liked them or not is another thing. But I was amazed at how much new gameplay there was.

    @metallicorphan

    Cheers for that (the encycloapedia looks nice and chunky from that picture), seems a bit of a shitty move to be honest. If you're buying the "ultimate" edition, you should expect to get everything in the other editions plus more, not be forced to get more than one copy if you want all the extra bits. That said, I can live without a small artbook, but I hope the Animus edition becomes available outside of Gamestop UK as they seem to want the money upfront for the preorder and on top of that they charge for postage.

    bla bla i'll take the regular edition.. shut up you cheapskate assholes

    I've never thought much of the content of the AC SEs, but at least they don't make loads of them, and have them discounted by 70% a month after launch. They've all been an actual limited release that went out of stock not long after launch.
