Battlefield 3 book by Andy McNab spotted

Single-player campaign now a novel?

A book, simply called Battlefield 3, has turned up on online shops.

Amazon and Barnes & Noble both list Battlefield 3 the book for release later this year.

According to the shops it's by Battlefield executive producer Patrick Bach and Andy McNab, the pseudonym of a former SAS operative and soldier and novelist.

Amazon says the book is 400 pages long and launches alongside the game on 25th October this year.

Battlefield 3 Blog, which spotted the listings, speculates that given McNab is listed as co-author, the book could be the novel of Battlefield 3's storyline, much of which developer DICE has so far kept under wraps.

    "Single-player campaign now a novel?"

I like this 'alternate media' idea. I hope the multiplayer is an epic landscape painting.

Didn't PC Gamer do a pisstake of a book just like this a few months ago? Paraphrased: "Contact. I clicked. xXxGhettoDawgxXx went down. +10 headshot I mused to myself. Contact. I clicked. Sephiroth8109 went down." etc etc

Play the game then read the book. Read the book then play the game. Decisions decisions.

loled at the dudefathers very accurate summation, which could also include:

" I ran towards the empty chopper, tightening my bum cheeks as I got closer and praying for my comrades not to launch rpg's at it until I was safely inside. I watched with rage as it exploded in my face and turned with a venemous stare to see my comrade reload and run away. Selfish arsehole!"

I saw the enemy camp approach. I pointed the nose of my helicopter at a guy trying to jump over a small wall but not being able to figure it out. When my helicopter was a full two meters from the enemy's face I jumped and landed safely on the ground. The resulting explosion was cool and bits flew everywhere. Got killed by sniper. Suddenly I was farted out my teammates ass and found myself behind a fence. I went to draw my knife to cut my way through but accidentally threw a grenade by mistake. Killed by own grenade. Was told we had won but turns out this was a lie.

Whilst kneeling down beside the flag post, I could not help but notice the cries for medics behind and beside me but I would not move to help them even though the first aid pack is on my back. The internal angst of wither or not to move or lose the flag was almost too much for one man to take and the cries over my ear piece with the constant din of `fag` or `bastard`did not help but I continued to kneel beside that damn flag.
