Too Human developer Silicon Knights is working on a new next-gen game engine with a view to self-publishing its own titles in the future.
With support from the Ontario government, the Canadian studio run by industry veteran Denis Dyack has taken on 80 new staff to work on "the 3D Game Development Engine".
According to the announcement, the new tech will include "advanced camera systems, improved audio and video and better computing technology."
"The new 3D tools will help the company develop the next generation of gaming systems and become a self-sustainable, self-publishing company," it added.
The studio, whose past efforts also include Eternal Darkness and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, is currently working on X-Men: Destiny for Activision, due out later this year.
