QuakeCon forums hacked

You know the drill.

And so it continues. QuakeCon is the latest outfit to fall victim to hackers, with forum users' personal information compromised by a recent "unlawful intrusion".

A post on the event's website explained that an old forum had been breached, laying bare usernames and passwords.

"In recent days, a hacker carried out an unlawful intrusion of the old forums.quakecon.org site, compromising usernames and passwords," read the announcement.

"While we have taken appropriate steps to protect the new forums from attack, we recommend anyone using their old credentials on another site to change their passwords immediately.

"We regret any inconvenience this may have caused, and suggest you migrate to the new forums — which will be live shortly — to discuss QuakeCon 2011."

The annual celebration of all things id Software takes place in Dallas, Texas from 4th to 7th August.

This isn't the first time parent company ZeniMax has been targeted. Last month, off-shoot Bethesda confirmed that the infamous LulzSec hacking collective had accessed user information on its websites.
