Carmack keynote confirmed for QuakeCon

No mention of Doom 4 on game list.

Programmer legend John Carmack will once again deliver a keynote address at QuakeCon.

The id Software co-founder and technical director kicks off this year's show on 4th August 2011.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Prey 2 and Rage will all be in attendance.

Unfortunately Doom 4, in development at id Software, is not on the QuakeCon list. But will Carmack, or id Software boss Todd Hollenshead, mention the game on stage?

Ahead of QuakeCon 2010 fans hoped to see more of Doom 4 after John Carmack – then new to Twitter - tweeted that he would be making an announcement during his QuakeCon keynote.

That turned out to be a stunning 60fps technical demonstration of Rage running on iPhone 4.

"The guys are working hard on it but we're not quite at the point where we're ready to give a demonstration on it at this point," Hollenshead said during his introduction to Carmack's keynote.

Hollenshead said that the Doom 4 team wasn't prepared to show anything until it will "absolutely blow you away".

QuakeCon 2011 runs from 4th to 6th August at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
