Eve Incarna multiplayer "this year"

More Captain's Quarters "next few months".

The multiplayer phase of massive Eve Online expansion Incarna will be added "this year", senior producer Arnar Gylfason has confirmed.

The suggestion is that developer CCP will aim this "next big evolution" for the traditional annual winter expansion slot.

There's more Incarna-focused content coming before then, too.

"We're going to see more Captain's Quarters, more racial variants of Captain's Quarters added in the next few months," said Gylfason during a CCP press conference Eurogamer participated in last night.

"The next phase of Incarna will be the multiplayer establishments, and I really don't think I can give any solid time-line on that just yet. But we're looking at this year, definitely, for the next big evolution on that front."

Gylfason's comments support CCP's previously announced plans to focus on the human avatar portion of Eve over the course of the next few expansions.

Incarna, once known as Walking in Stations and Ambulation, allows human avatars to explore interior environments. It's the update CCP has been working on for five years.

Currently Incarna extends to plodding around Captain's Quarters. But the multiplayer phase of Incarna will allow player avatar interaction - and who knows what possibilities that will bring?

They don't do things quickly over there do they.

I think it's rather a lot of revamping going on with the engine, which explains why it is taking so long. Besides that there are technical things to overcome, especially in very populated areas. I remember then wanting to visualize actual traffic outside the station through windows in some common areas - that's quite a bit of a technical and programming challenge.

I really want to play/get into this game, but the more expansions and addons they keep putting on it makes it, more and more daunting to go near..i mean really, just forget these silly micro-expansions and make EVE 2 so i can jump on this bandwagon.

You don't pay for the expansions, they're more like named mega patches.

I remember when this used to be an internet spaceship game...

There wont be an EVE 2. They will just keep expanding and adding things to this game. This game has been growing for 9 years and it's only just getting started. It'll be around for a lot longer. My advice would be to try the free trial and see if you like it, the tutorials seem to be improved. And who knows, one day we might get Dust514 on PC and get our FPS fix without having to leave the EVE universe. Lot's more to come from this game, its growing from a spaceship game into a complete Sci-Fi universe.

Scopeh, if you wan't to be a part of a sandbox MMO while it's just starting out, you could try Perpetuum online or Mortal online.

It seems daunting when you first start. But once you find out what you want to do in Eve (be a miner, explore, PvP, mission running etc) you can focus on that. You don't have to understand every aspect of the game to enjoy what you want to do. I've been playing for 1,5 years and I still know next to nothing about Industry and some other areas of the game. Don't be discouraged by feeling initially overwhelmed. It's the richest game I've ever played. The complexity allows you to really let you play as you want to play, instead of the game limiting your options and holding your hand to make it more accesible. Plus, the community is mature, super-helpful and friendly. Try it!

yeah Incarna revamped the 'new player experience' (lol) to make it much more noob friendly.. now's quite a good time to get started, what with the learning skills (read: pointless grind) gone now for a good while too.

As long as they improve the CQ - right now it's been disabled on my computer, and my friends computers as well. There's no real point in having it turned on atm.

I would love to see how they deal with Jita. An absolute cesspool of douchebags and other low-life scum.
