Tales of Monkey Island HD hits iPad

Episode 1 free for now, 2-5 4 quid.

Telltale Games' Tales of Monkey Island HD series is out now for iPad.

The first episode, which has been out since December last year, is free until 22nd July.

Episodes 2-5 are available for £3.99 per episode on the AppStore.

Tales of Monkey Island successfully spun a new adventure from one of the most cherished IPs in gaming's history. Eurogamer played all five episodes for a Tales of Monkey Island: Season 1 review.

The episodic series launched on PC and WiiWare back in 2009, before heading to PlayStation Network late last year.

    Excellent, but isn't that rather pricey for iPad stuff? Still, it's a great game.

    Let's just hope LucasArts actually bloody re-release MI3 and MI4 so new fans can actually play more than just 1, 2 and 5.

    As a MI4 hater, I played through all of this. It's surprisingly enjoyable!

    Haven't played Tales yet. Personally I'd rate the first four games like this:
    MI 10/10 (one of the all-time classics)
    MI2 9/10 (great, but not as good as the first one)
    MI3 8/10 (didn't like the new art style nor puzzles as much, but still a good game)
    MI4 5/10 (audio-visually quite good, as a game garbage)
