Yakuza series ships 5 million globally

Five million Yakuza games have been shipped globally, Sega has announced.

Zombie spin-off Yakuza Of the End shipped 400,000 units in two weeks, Andriasang reports.

The first Yakuza game, released on PlayStation 2 in December 2005, has sold one million units.

PlayStation 3 exclusive Yakuza Of the End launched in Japan on 9th June after the devastating earthquake forced a delay. It sold nearly 100,000 fewer copies than Yakuza 4 did during its first week on sale.

Yakuza of The End is yet to be announced for launch in the West. The last game in the gangster series to release on these shores was Yakuza 4, which enjoyed an 8/10 from Eurogamer.
