EA: FIFA 12 PC same as console versions

"Moment PC gamers have been waiting for."

FIFA 12 is as good on PC as it is on console, EA has insisted.

The new Player Impact Engine, which aims to deliver real-world physicality to the game, is included in the PC version.

This means the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions have an identical game engine and feature set – a first for the long-running series.

"This is the moment all PC gamers have been waiting for, as they are finally going to fully experience the award-winning FIFA gameplay on their preferred platform," executive producer Kaz Makita said.

"PC fans are going to enjoy the highest quality gameplay, deepest game modes and truest graphics ever developed for the platform, including our new live service EA Sports Football Club."

EA Sports Football Club, announced at E3, is a live service that connects players to the real-world game.

The first PC FIFA 12 screenshot is below.

Jesus, it took them long enough, didn't it?

I'll wager this is part of the big Origin push, they can't be seen to be skimping on FIFA for PC anymore.

Also, what happened to the Tiger Woods PGA series on PC? Do they even make those anymore?
  • Shane86 #2 11 months ago

But will it release on the same day?

Now bring NHL back to PC.

Awesome! Playing FIFA 11 at 1080p with a silky smooth framerate was a great experience. It was just a shame the features weren't all there. Very much looking forward to 12 on the PC now.

Hopefully the mod community will be alive for this, they've done wonders for the PES games on PC over recent years...

Really? I thought games were for enjoyment not for playing out a deep datk fantasy (in your case anyway!). Talking about fantasy, if I could run from the half way line, beat 4 players and lob the goalie I WOULD play the real thing!

Better late than ever, at what point did someone think that approach was acceptable!
  • Eldritch #14 11 months ago

Technically the PC version should be way better than any console version.

Let's hope at least the grass is better than in Tiger Woods.

Why is there a view all button for 1 screenshot?
  • Darren #16 11 months ago

It is good to have it finally confirmed but why on earth did EA take so long to do it? It should have been clarified around the time the Impact Engine was announced for the console versions IMO.
  • Eraserhead #17 11 months ago

When FIFA went "next gen" on consoles, EA once said a PC couldn't possibly handle all the intense calculations (or some such) required to run the game. Yet apparently a console could, which is why the PC version was crap for years.

How we laughed. (At EA's ridiculous excuses, that is)

Bagpuss, I play football pretty much everyday and yet still play FIFA.

So what you've just said makes you look like a plonker.
  • Iain815 #19 11 months ago

Give Bagpuss some slack, he's just a bit tired after being balls deep in Imogen Thomas.
  • Darren #20 11 months ago

@Eraserhead - Did EA actually say that? I thought the real reason was that they wanted to maximise their customer base and sell the game to people withl lower specced PCs, those that could run The Sims maxed out rather than Crysis! ;)
  • bad09 #21 11 months ago

That's good, I was shocked and dissappointed when I bought 10 and found out the PC version was always not only an inferior version but missing the feautures of the console games. 11 was better but still supposedly lacked features from the consoles. Level playing field feature wise is a wise move EA (among others) really seem to be taking PC almost seriously at the moment, PC gaming must really be on the up these days! :)

"Also, what happened to the Tiger Woods PGA series on PC? Do they even make those anymore?"

Sadly they dropped it on PC (just as I switched to PC the gits!). They swapped it for that PGA browser game thing, not sure if that's any good or even if it's still going.

Of course, what you said is the *actual* reason behind it.

I can't believe it! Can it be true?!

As a long time PES fan, I CAN-NOT wait for this. PES has been stuck in a rut for the past three years, while FIFA plays like how PES should play.
