"Big" THQ announcement for Gamescom

Homeworld 3? Dawn of War 3?

THQ will reveal an unannounced game at Gamescom in Germany in August.

Core games boss Danny Bilson described the announcement as "big" to Eurogamer.

"I promise a big announcement at Gamescom," he said. "It's unannounced, a new announcement."

While Bilson refused to reveal any details on the mystery game, he did offer a clue.

"I can say that crowd, those hundreds of thousands of people, in that space at that time, this one's built to announce at that place. I'll say that. That's my clue."

Is the game Homeworld 3? The last we heard from the Relic-developed series was Homeworld 2, which launched in 2003.

Or is it Dawn of War 3, which Bilson confirmed to Eurogamer last year was in pre-production?

Or is it something else entirely?

The Gamescom announcement is one of "a few" planned by the Homefront publisher for this year.

They will be spread across the various shows and events, including Comic-Con and the Tokyo Game Show.

Bilson confirmed that at TGS this year THQ will show the first gameplay footage of Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki's new game, Devil's Third.

THQ will also take the lid off Turtle Rock's new 2013 first-person shooter, which Bilson told Eurogamer "raises the bar" the studio set with Left 4 Dead.

"We've got announcements coming," Bilson continued. "There's a few more coming this calendar year tied to different shows and events."

"I can say that crowd, those hundreds of thousands of people, in that space at that time, this one's built to announce at that place. I'll say that. That's my clue."

It wouldn't be your resignation would it? Because that would please millions of gamers and developers the world over.

Its probably just their official reveal of Homefront 2...remember they like to think its in the same league as BF and MW...BIG!

I loved Homeworld and it's add-on Cataclysm, but Homeworld2 really didn't strike the same chord. Maybe because it did a "highlander" and just destroyed the romanticism of the original story so it could have a sequel or maybe it's because it became too micromanagey.

Anyway - if they could bring a new homeworld with the atmosphere of the first and controls for a console to the 360 i'd play it.

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy 2

I thought they cancelled all the shows in Germany?

Anyway, never had the chance to play Homeworld but apparently people are loving it. I am a big fan of Relic games so this might be the perfect time to get into the Homeworld series.

A bit off-topic but hopefully we will see some Wii U stuff as well, in the last couple of years the Games Convention just showed everything we already saw at E3 and often even the playable games were already released as E3 demos on the consoles.

Do THQ own the Homeworld IP? I thought that was still with Sierra?

    Announcement will be:

"THQ are delighted confirm that Relic, developers of Company of Heroes, Dawn of War and of course Homeworld are taking the next step in their long and distinguished relationship with THQ and will be closing down."

I must say THQ has been making good business choices lately, even though they are somewhat copying EA Partner's, they still have contracted some talented devlopers to create games for them, seeing as their own internal studios don't reach the quality bar.

Hey gents, look what I found. RTS + 'space and time' + Relic? Yes please.

HW3 has been denied outright by Relic several times. CoH2 is much, much more likely, also given the "that space and time" context. An Eastern Front campaign and such, several more sides, it would be good enough to ease the pain after cancelling CoH Online.

DoW3? Nah, a new addon first would be better.

I actually quite liked Sphinx & The Cursed Mummy.

HW3 would be amazing. I loved 1 & 2, Cataclysm not so much.

    HomeWorld AWESOME

Oooh, Homeworld 3 would be great news.

Just don't do a 'BIA: Furious 4' on the fans of the franchise.

Business as usual folks. Relic keep making Warhammer 40k for everyone too ashamed to grow a neck-beard and paint the models and the rest of us all sit on our hands until the next time that Eurogamer gets excited about the slightest hint of a Homeworld 3 rumour.

A Dawn of War 3 announcement will still be pretty awesome.

Or hell, a multi player game based from Dark Heracy, Rogue Trader or Deathwatch tabletop RPG's!

Tons of money to be made off that both ideas I wager. I reguarly toss 60-80 USD per book at my nearest hobby shop, so I don't see why I wouldn't toss 50 USD, plus 15-20USD per adventure to play something with my friends that I see all too rarely.

"I can say that crowd, those hundreds of thousands of people, in that space at that time, this one's built to announce at that place. I'll say that. That's my clue."

" in that space at that time" MEANS an RTS. Which one, DOW3, COH2, or HW3?

"this one's built to announce at that place" MEANS, in Germany. The place most appropriate for the announcement of the new game is EFFING GERMANY! WHICH MEANS it's COH2! @%!%@!

    Sincerely,
    A pissed off Homeworld fan!
