US Catherine release date

Importers at the ready.

Stylish erotic action thriller Catherine will be released in America on 26th July.

As no European release has been confirmed, those interested in playing will need to import. Remember that PS3 games are region-free, which is nice.

A demo of Catherine has also been released on the Japanese PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace.

Eurogamer has heard promising things about Catherine - a game that has made headlines for being odd, pretty and risqé.

Catherine follows protagonist Vincent who has wacky nightmares after meeting a lady called Catherine. There's a puzzle-action element that involves trying not to be killed in varying ways.

Crackers.

This game has been talked up real hard. Usually what happens after this is that it turns out to be shit.

Played the demo on the Japanese Store before the great "event". It was really good.

Looking forward to getting this, import it is!

I'm moving to Japan 4 days after this comes out and desperately want it before I go, looks like I'll be getting ripped off to buggery at the only shop round here that sells import games.

Planetaxel.com are offering it at £40.47 for the normal edition and £54.88 for the limited edition. I've already put my pre-order in, I'm very much looking forward to playing this.

For what it's worth, there's an E3 video on the XBL European marketplace with a PEGI rating. This is not a confirmation but the odds of it reaching this side of the pond have definitely increased.
I just checked and the game itself hasn't been rated by the PEGI though.

    @palletteswap

Really? Sounds promising. Assuming that Rising Star or Ghostlight will break cover with this at some point

I'd rather get this on 360 if possible so really hoping Ghostlight manage to pick it up. No problem importing for PS3 if not though.

    +1 to ATLUS rules

This is not the game you are looking for - a puzzler in sheep's clothing.
  • Retro_ #12 12 months ago

Already preordered the pizza box LTD edition from VideoGamesPlusCA. It's too weird a game to pass up.

Catherine as a story and a visual experience is brilliant. Catherine as a game is kind of rubbish.

It's half-puzzle game half-action game and the two work against each other in a horrible way - it's pretty poor as a result.

There's a little mini-game in it which is fantastic, though. It takes the puzzle half and ditches the action, so it's just full on puzzle. It works brilliantly.

Still, overall, worth playing for the story but don't go into it expecting the best game ever.

Just thought I'd point out that the above "watch this bonkers Catherine trailer" is currently on the UK Live Marketplace as part of the E3 2011 folder!

    I only have a 360 so I'm hoping for a EU release.

  • silversun #17 12 months ago

someone might pick it up for release in europe , if not importing is an option , game looks intresting and crazy( in why heck would i buy it, but its intresting way lol) at the same time.

    "Already pre-ordered from playasia"

With ps 3 games can thy sell them to uk ? sony restrictions on ps 3 games that other site closed down , meant playasia they stop selling to uk , not sure about rest of europe? maybe i got my facts wrong , anyway sometimes use them if cant find a game for sale in uk.
Plus got old saturn games from them as well , they good for japanese games, the us versions unless they new are hard to find so need go elsewhere.

@silversun - that was the sale of PlayStation hardware which got LikSang in trouble with Sony.
