Spanish police arrest Anonymous hackers

In connection with PlayStation Network.

Spanish police have arrested three "suspected" members of hacktivist group Anonymous in connection with attacks on Spain's Central Electoral Board (la Junta Electoral Central) and PlayStation Network.

The names of suspects weren't given out, according to a report on The Register.

The arrests were made across the country: one in Barcelona, one in Alicante and one in Almeria. The three people apprehended allegedly had the ability to direct Anonymous operations.

Spanish police believe this was "a key cell" of Anonymous.

A server hosted in Spanish city Gijon was seized as part of the raids.

Anonymous has previously denied having anything to do with credit card details stolen during the April PlayStation Network hack.

However, Anonymous publicly declared war on Sony for its treatment of superstar hacker George "Geohot" Hotz - the key orchestrator of PS3 Jailbreak.
