Free Brink DLC Agents of Change details

Fight inside that spire!

Brink will receive a free Agents of Change add-on in June that adds maps, abilities, weapon attachments and outfits.

Developer Splash Damage decided to waive the cost as an apology for the early-days bug fixing.

The Agents of Change maps are Founders' Tower, which takes you into that sky-scraping iconic spire, and Labs, an underwater science haven untouched by the civil war.

There are five new abilities: UAV, a spy device for marking opponents on the map or for detonating near unsuspecting foes; Napalm Grenade for thrown explodey fire; Pyro Mine for planting explodey fire; Field Regen Unit, for reviving all squaddies within an area; and Tactical Scanner, for revealing enemy buffs.

New weapon attachments are a stabby Bayonet and a riot-style stick-on Weapon Shield.

The Sad Punk and The Limey - a "traditional" European police officer - are the extra outfits.

Brink spent a third week in the UK all-formats top five software chart this morning, finishing fifth.

Eurogamer awarded Brink 8/10. "Brink is an exceptional team shooter, smart, supremely well balanced and with a unique, exciting art style," reviewer Simon Parkin wrote.

The so called 'early-days bug fixing.' has still not fixed the online latency issues, so this DLC is little more than a few more maps to lag on :(

will these new maps be also playable in singleplayer ?

I've had no lag issues on the 360 since the most recent patch was released. It's been running fine apart from very brief blips when players connect or quit out.

Looking forward to some new maps to play!

Loved it, but traded it this weekend after I got the last of the achievements. I would have hung on to it but none of my mates bought it so I spent most of my time with randoms and / or bots.

I may well pick it up again for the DLC as I'm sure it's going to plumet in price due to lack of interest. Too many people slagging it off unfairly for my money.

I've experienced no lag on the 360 since the patch so I'm happy to hear about this free DLC. Shame it can't do anything about the fact most of my friends have stopped playing!

I said after New Vegas, I wouldnt buy a Bethesda game on release, but decided to with Brink anyway. How wrong was I! I hate the way game companies assume that just because we're all connected to the internet and games can be patched, they can release "unfinished" buggy games!
  • NeverWinter78 #11 12 months ago

It's good that the DLC is free to say sorry but how many more game companies are going to release buggy games then give a bit of free DLC to say sorry for an unfinished or poorly tested game. I'm seeing it more and more. I didnt get brink because of the mixed reviews.

Been loving this game, great in co-op too. Wish this DLC had more maps though.

Not sure about some of those new abilities. UAV is going to be a waste of a skillpoint given that so much of the action is indoors. Napalm grenade looks like it's little more than making up for the inadequacy of regular grenades, same goes for the mine. The tactical scanner sounds good, but without a means to remove those buffs all it does is tell you who to focus fire on, the only useful skill there is the Regen unit, which sounds genuinely useful for holding and assaulting those all important chokepoints.

Seems that the DLC is aimed more at the "raise the level cap and give us new skills" complaint that is always made on any game with an RPG mechanic rather than add much needed variety of content that is unfortunately lacking in this title.
