First Homefront DLC pack announced

Plus, Xbox 360 update goes live today.

The first set of DLC for Kaos Studio's Homefront FPS launches for Xbox 360 on 7th June.

Titled Fire Sale, it consists of two new multiplayer maps. No word yet on when PC and PlayStation 3 users will be able to get their hands on it.

There'll also be a new weapon available for download on the same day – the 870 Express Shotgun – and a free premium theme for your Xbox 360 dashboard.

According to the announcement, Fire Sale "is just the first small taste of anticipated robust updates that will be coming to Homefront."

Ahead of the DLC, an Xbox 360 title update goes live today, adding in a new Ability Pack and making various minor tweaks aimed at improving stability and network connectivity. The full changelog looks like this:

Ability Pack:

  • Ice Cold: Invisible on thermal views and airstrike sensors
  • Situational Awareness: Enemy gamertag appears when shot
  • EMP Tactician: Deal more damage vs EMP'd vehicles
  • Short Fuse: Reduced cook time on frag grenades
  • Bomb Suit: Take less damage from explosives

Improvements to:

  • Assist points for vehicle kills
  • Rank Resets
  • Game returns to MP menu instead of Main Menu after leaving a match
  • Max ping limits for server connections (prevent connections to distant servers)
  • Game freeze & hitching
  • Joining Friends feature
  • Beacon errors
  • Party Connectivity
  • Various other fixes

Publisher THQ recently announced that a multiplayer demo is also on the way for the shooter, which launched to middling reviews back in March.

    Middling reviews!?

It has 34 POSITIVE reviews on Metacritic!

I've been interested in this for awhile and just noticed it's £18 on PC from ShopTo. Considering i'd mostly be buying it for the multiplayer, is it worth it?

Bah, new maps. Where are those promised single-player DLCs, I wonder! I want the story campaign to continue already.

    @Matman562:

I recently bought it for £20 for the 360. The multiplayer is pretty good and probably worth that £18. All the weapons seem pretty balanced, and being able to buy rpgs and anti-tank drones on the fly means you shouldn't have too much bother from vehicles. My only real gripe is that it's a bit pig-ugly on the 360 but it's probably better looking on the PC anyway!

One tip though - avoid the single player. It is short and not very sweet.

Doesn't look very good on the PC either I'm afraid.

It's nice of them to add new perks and give away the pre-order shotgun for free, but is the DLC free as well?

It's just I can't see any mention of a price or anything like "price to be confirmed" on the Homefront blog post. If it's not free then surely they couldn't charge more than 400-600 MSP for it.

Microsoft sets the price...don't be surprised by 800 points

@monty2k Thanks for the reply, I think I will get it. Yeah, I was already thinking of using the single-player just as a tutorial for the multiplayer. And the best looking FPS I have for the PC at the moment is Battlefield Play4Free so the graphics shouldn't be a problem :)

I get the feeling one map will involve the big Tiger Direct superstore from the singleplayer game.

I love the multiplayer, and I'm glad that LA Noire is finally out as there's nothing else coming out now for the rest of the summer that I'm particularly desperate to play, I can spend some quality time with this and Section 8: Prejudice.

@MatMan I bought it from Keys4.me for 15.5178 GBP, well that's what it works out at and it's a legit site. Not a bad game tbh, not amazing but a great improvement from FrontLines Fuel of war.

I brought this for £25 from amazon a month ago & the multiplayer is a blast , if your on the fence it's worth it for the Mp especially if you can get it cheapish.

Were they not supposed to be bringing out out a mp demo for this on xbl?

Yes a MP Demo is supposed to be on the way.

    @metalangel
    nothing else this summer?

How about in June Duke Nukem Forever and Shadow of the Damned, in August Deus Ex HR.

Bit on the fence about F3AR, Dungeon Siege 3, Red Faction Armageddon, Call of Juarez Cartel and Alice in June, Warhammer 40k in August.

There's a bucketload of games coming out this summer you might want to check.

@Truwari3r: Nope, none of those, not even DNF. I have a stack of games I need to work through, ArmA2 (and all the add-ons!) as well as WURM Online and I'm about to buy Mount & Blade: Warband, not to mention SBK2011 (barely started), de Blob 2 (barely started), not to mention the pile of stuff I'm halfway through.

I still buy like I lived on my own and had a job with social hours. Thanks for the suggestions anyway, though! The next new game I buy will possibly be Deus Ex 3.
