At Amazon, Game, HMV for now.

If you pre-order id Software's new game Rage you'll be upgraded to the Anarchy Edition for free.

The Anarchy Edition offers four downloadable game items: a Double-Barrel Shotgun, Crimson Elite Armour, Fists of Rage and a Rat Rod Buggy.

The shops offering this promotion at the moment are Amazon, Game and HMV. Bethesda has told Eurogamer that all shops can take advantage if they support pre-orders.

It's not just a store exclusive, it's a pre-order exclusive. Which means if you want the double-barrelled shotgun (this is an id FPS - everyone wants the double-barrelled shotgun), you have to commit to buy based on no reviews, no word of mouth, nothing but id/Bethesda's marketing.

Why not make all this shit available as DLC for the first week after release. Buy the game new and early get the stuff, buy later or 2nd hand, dont (or for a fee). Simples.

I suppose if you're going to offer something for pre-orders it should be largely cosmetic, I am worried however that not pre-ordering may mean having to pay actual money to acquire the double barreled shotgun, which would be wrong on so many levels in an iD game.
