PSN matchmaking back in next few days?

Online gaming to return first.

Sony plans to bring PlayStation Network matchmaking back online within the next couple of days, according to a trusted Eurogamer source.

When contacted for comment, SCE corporate communications director Patrick Seybold told Eurogamer, "We're working to get the network back on as soon as we can."

Meanwhile, a PlayStation Europe community manager has confirmed that Sony intends to get online gaming back up and running before other PSN services.

"Once again, 31st May is the date for FULL restoration of PSN services. Restoration is phased. Online gaming will return BEFORE May 31st," read a post on MusterBuster's Twitter feed earlier today.

Over the weekend, a Sony spokesperson warned that full PSN service might not return until 31st May.

Awesome! Hopefully so, but let them take their time.

Oh hey, Anonymous got hacked. Fancy that. Karma is well and truly a saint.

And how stable is it going to be? Can I play portal 2 co-op with out lagging out?
  • Baines20 #8 1 year ago

Thank god! A glimmer of hope, although they said that last week!
  • Deadly_Spike #9 1 year ago

Well it doesn't look like optimism is completely dead! I will be happy for 2 reasons. 1) I can get back to gaming with my mates and 2) I can visit this and other sites without being bombarded with PSN headlines.
As said above, I just hope if they are pushing it ready for Brink, that it's stable and not going to go down again after the bombardment of users that will log on minutes after it's up.

i aint played bbc2 for a few months but with psn off i want to play it again when its back on :p screw black ops i have that on 360 lol

"I can get back to gaming with my mates" - Note that it would be the basic online gaming to come back first. No messaging, and possibly not friend list status.

I agree about the fear mongering, though. It got a bit out of hand.

    @nemesysND1derboy:

    Oh hey, Anonymous got hacked.

Karma is a b**ch indeed. I think that their own sloppiness is some form of evidence of their innocence regarding the PSN attack.
I found it funny that their forum avatars are mostly photos of girls. It's suggestive of something.

Eurogamer, stop this sloppy reporting, you really have it in for Sony....oh wait.
  • Kaminari #14 1 year ago

I wouldn't be surprised if online gaming was restored on May 30th -- it just happens to be right before May 31st!

I wonder how many times EG will keep reiterating tha same story with a different headline?
  • HyperTails #19 1 year ago

TBH, i'm getting a bit fed up with these 'sources' that keep talking to EG and other sites. Either its coming back in the next few days, or its not. Hopefully it is.
  • Ahskay #20 1 year ago

I'm getting more fed up that i can't game online. Headlines i can skip. And people saying to get out or do something. I have 2 jobs, a part-time dayshift and a full-time nightshift. I don't watch tv, only thing i do is gaming and reading for my amusement at home. On a day off i want to game.
In the first place it's not the hackers fault at all, it's Sony that didn't protect itself enough. They have a lot to make up to win the gamers trust now. I'm even thinking about buying a 360 again so i can play Brink and LA-noire (LA also needs internet for the dlc-stuff and the hint-system). I'm happy to pay 50 euros a year if the service is secured and always working.
If the matchmaking and friends lists are not online by the end of the week i think me and a lot of other people are just throwing in the towel. I'll keep my ps around for Infamous 2 and to browse porn on a big HDTV.
If Sony really want to set things right with their consumers they will drop the price for it's exclusives by 10EUR at least and for 2 weeks they will drop the licensing fees for other games so we can buy cheaper games. That would be a start.

    "MusterBuster" ? Really?
  • Murton #29 1 year ago

Hey EG, if you're looking for another PSN outage story maybe you could run something useful and find out how/why users can still post comments on the US Playstation blog but not the European one? Cookies expired on the Euro blog last week but the US one seems to still allow logins, might be a story there.

As for the return of online gaming, looks like the return will be after I go back to work again, so that's unfortunate. I hope basic login and friendslists appear at the same time so that I can get back to co-op gaming, and trophy syncing would be nice, then I could maybe finally install this hard drive that I've had on desk for two weeks now.

    I few have question,
Why is people can not post on the blog?

SONY: As you cookie has expired.

If that so why are people still able to post on Europe forums if cookie expired?

    SONY: err

So cookie have expired how can you log on to European forums as it down for logon is down maintenance?

    SONY: err

So Sony you are tell us you can not log on also that because cookies have expired can not post on the blog. So even that cookies have expired you can post forums. Please explain this security lapse then, as cookies have expired?
