Alan Wake 2 shows up on CV

CGI team making E3 trailer?

LinkedIn strikes again - an artist has name-dropped Alan Wake 2 on her online CV.

The sequel has been heavily rumoured but never confirmed. The "previs artist" (pre-visualisation) claims she worked on in-game Alan Wake 2 cinematics for Halon Entertainment in April 2011.

Halon Entertainment created the Deliver Hope advert for Halo: Reach. Could Halon's Alan Wake 2 project (if real) be a CGI taster for a major upcoming game event like, say, E3 next month?

Such a game would fill a noticeable hole in Microsoft's exclusive Xbox 360 line-up.

Finnish Alan Wake developer Remedy was last spotted lauding the merits of digital distribution. Before that, Remedy vaunted its in-house motion-capture capabilities - claiming they'd outstrip what even Rockstar's Team Bondi has done with L.A. Noire.

All we've heard specifically about Alan Wake 2 is that if the project goes ahead, and Remedy would love that to be the case, the game would be exclusive to PC and Xbox 360.

Alan Wake was released a year ago on Xbox 360. Eurogamer's Ellie Gibson concluded that "Alan Wake is an accessible, undemanding game with a neat combat mechanic and decent visuals" - 7/10.

Alan Wake is a great game in my opinion. I wish there were more like it.

Fuck the haters, Alan Wake was an excellent game. A sequel is great news!

    EG's news:

    • 20% going through bins for CVs
    • 50% stolen from other sites
    • 20% from ringing up dickhead Michael Pachter
    • 9% worthless tabloid style speculation
    • 1% EG scoops (usually gotten by getting one dev to call another dev a prick)

The entry on her cv states that it is an in-game cinematic not a trailer
  • PlaystationNotWork #8 1 year ago

Wasn't the worst of games, lots of scope for improvement, but most importantly - Alan Wake needs to stop being a cunt.

Episode 3 of Alan Wake had the most sustained brilliance of any videogame I played last year.

    It was awesome...

A reporter reports. What's your big fucking problem. All news is second hand.

I thing EG's Alan Wake review was pretty poor and it tried too much to be funny when sometimes people need some actual info about the games. That said, and tbh, Alan Wake is not that good a game, it's interesting, I enjoyed mainly the daytime parts as the city itself is the most interesting "character" of the game (yes, Alan is a douche), when it hit night time we all knew what it was going to happen... all the time the same situation, bar the concert part which was cool, and the infamous graveyard DLC part. Lots of room for improvemnt though.
  • evild_edd #14 1 year ago

FFS. I don't understand people bitching about the site THEY'RE POSTING ON! if you don't like the site, just fuck off elsewhere. I mean, would you really rather EG didn't post a story just because it had been featured first on another site? Stop being knob heads!

On topic: I would love AW2 to be confirmed this E3. Make it happen Remedy and MS.
  • FuzzyDuck #15 1 year ago

AW was a grumpy sod, eh? Sounds refreshing!

Always wanted to check it out, now more than ever (i don't own the required plastic box, see).

7/10 was very harsh. For me Alan Wake was a great game. I was hooked. The DLC was a let down, but that was due to the high expectations I had after playing the game. AW2 bring it on.
  • Eraysor #18 1 year ago

Alan Wake was great. The review on here was definitely too harsh. The gameplay may have been a little repetitive but it easily made up for it with the amazing atmosphere. They could do with making Alan a bit less of a dick though.
  • metalmike25 #19 1 year ago

The review was ok, it was funny but 7/10 was a bit too generous. I bought it cos of the review and have to say it wasn't enjoyable at all. And alan was a miserale prick. Replace him with garth marenghi and I'll buy the sequel day one!
  • metalmike25 #20 1 year ago

@miiguel think you might be takin the review a bit seriously. It's a video game website not a medical review journal. I'd be bored out of my mind readin a dry, informative review. And you're wrong, it was funny
  • PlaystationNotWork #21 1 year ago

    @charliechan

Yes, all news is second hand. Things happen, people report it.

You've obviously got a vested interest in GeoNAF so go fuck off there.
  • DiamondIce #22 1 year ago

AW deserves a sequel even though the sales were low. It had great promise so if parts can be refined and improved for a sequel it will be even better.
  • BillyBrush #23 1 year ago

Can't wait...I'll have the 'in a book edition' if they do it again too.

I don't really understand all the ire over the main character...99% of game characters come straight out of the comic book hero junkyard, spouting endless annoying quips about how great they (you) are. AW was a really good character, and plenty likeable...I really hope they don't listen to the internet regarding the character, because it'd be wrong to change him i think.

"All we've heard specifically about Alan Wake 2 is that if the project goes ahead, and Remedy would love that to be the case, the game would be exclusive to PC and Xbox 360."

Damn fine work there Rob, you just misquoted an article on your own website:

    [link url=http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-09-remedy-has-great-ideas-for-alan-wake-2
    ]http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-0...[/link]

"With Microsoft Game Studios it's Xbox exclusive, or it's Xbox and PC," franchise development head Oskari Häkkinen told Eurogamer in an exclusive interview.

"Please don't put that Alan Wake 2 is going to come out on PC, because that might not be true! Either is a possibility."
  • StuDevo #25 1 year ago

I hope this is true. Alan Wake was really good and one of the main reasons I got a 360
  • Mister-Wario #26 1 year ago

I hope this is true. Alan Wake wasn't perfect but it wasn't terrible either: it was an unusual and compelling title and one I enjoyed more than any other when I played it. Personally I'd like there to be some more variety in the environments and a better written story: the whole light/darkness thing was pretty well done but it felt pretty derivative and simplistic. There's a good idea about writing in there, though.
  • asphaltcowboy #27 1 year ago

Given that they're inevitably NDA'ed up to the eyeballs, do any of these people that manage to announce games via CV actually get in trouble?
  • onyxbox #28 1 year ago

I really enjoyed Alan Wake and some of the DLC was good too and quite creative.. a sequel would be very welcome
  • mdsll #29 1 year ago

Please let it be true. Alan Wake was my GOTY.
  • razzastuta #30 1 year ago

I felt that Alan Wake was a little bit of a letdown - I really wanted it to be brilliant, but ultimately it just lacked the psychological impact that perhaps Silent Hill 2 had. I know you shouldn't make comparisons, but I guess I just wanted the same kind of feeling I had w/ SH2. However, being a miserable, grumpy and bitter bastard as I am, I like the idea of such a character being a hero in a computer game!

I'm all for an Alan Wake sequel if it can improve it's gameplay (and parts of its story). Just don't change the character.

Jesus christ. Chan adding 0% to PS3 threads, 0% to 360 threads. Ever thought of just leaving gaming behind?
  • Widge #32 1 year ago

Of games that deserve a sequel polishing areas that the first (apparently) needed polishing in, this is it. It just feels too good an IP to just leave behind.
  • EmiliasHorse #33 1 year ago

Loved Alan Wake, I finished the writer but just remembered I downloaded the second addon during a sale for 200ms points but never actually played it. Soon fixed.

  • deadstoned #36 1 year ago

Right so Alan Wake 2 would be on PC and Alan Wake 1 (the showcase model of dx 10) is not. Seriously putting 2 onto PC and not 1 is not cool -_-
  • Oskool #37 1 year ago

It wasn't a terrible game. A little slow paced and I got sick of beaming enemies with a flash light before I could shoot them.
  • Inmediasress #38 1 year ago

    @deadstoned
Oh come on what did you expect from Microshit? They have been doing this for a long time now.
They practicularly cancelled alan wake for PC before release (okay we don't know how far they have gotten but I am pretty sure it was well underway when they canceled it).
Just so that they can force people to buy an xbox, spineless company that M$.
I wouldn't be surprised if remedy had a 80% finished PC version of alan Wake stored somewhere they just can't release it.
Then they have the guts to say that they advocate PC gaming.
M$ really puts politicians to shame when it's about lying to your face.
