First Assassin's Creed: Revelations info

Ezio is 50+, Altaïr is playable.

The first details of what you can expect from Assassin's Creed: Revelations has hit the web.

The latest issue of Game Informer has the scoop, with a kindly subscriber on NeoGAF posting a summary of the info dump.

As revealed earlier this week, Revelations will see Ezio return as the central character though he's now over 50 years old.

Ezio is looking for seals that hold the memories of his ancestor Altaïr - the hero of the first Assassin's Creed game. The seals will let Ezio peer into Altaïr's consciousness, just as Desmond uses the Animus to peek into his. Altaïr will be playable during these sequences.

Host city Constantinole will be split into four main districts - Constantine, Beyazid, Imperial and Galata - while players will also be visiting the Cappadocia region in central Turkey.

New gameplay additions include an item called the hookblade which you can use to zipline across the city or grab enemies to yank them in for a combo attack. Ziplining reportedly speeds up navigation by around 30 per cent.

As well as the hookblade, Ezio will also have 300 different bomb variations at his disposal, which will be craftable.

The Eagle Vision has been tweaked and is now called Eagle Sense.

"Eagle sense let's you focus on a character and see where he's been," explained Ubisoft's Alex Amancio. "You'll get an approximation of where he will go. If you're able to detect the path a guard will take, you can run ahead, set a bomb, and create a trap or an ambush."

Brotherhood's Borgia Towers concept has been expanded too, with Constantinople's Assassin's Dens the result. You'll need to complete various assault scenarios to dispatch resident Templars. Once you've taken a den you'll be able to upgrade nearby buildings and add ziplines to adjacent rooftops.

You can lose control of your dens as you gain notoriety but you'll be able to dispatch troops to defend them if you're unable to make it back to the den being attacked, or permanently install a master assassin to ensure it's never taken over.

Traditional side missions have been scrapped in favour of "random events" to make the game more immersive. For example, you might spot a shop owner being robbed while wandering round the city or a child asking for help.

Desmond is back as well. This time he has found a safe mode in the Animus called the 'Black Room' through which he can access lost memories.

Elsewhere, the assassin leveling mechanic has been bumped up from 10 to 15, and multiplayer returns, though this time apparently with a greater focus on narrative.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations is currently scheduled for a November release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Awwww, I was hoping for a new protagonist, not Ezio, and a different era... Why having all history from where to choose they choose the same central character and same century? Well, let's hope it's as good as Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood.
  • FuzzyDuck #2 1 year ago

This needs to be a big shake up for the series, i feel like Ubi are already milking the series dry with yearly updates, Brotherhood felt like an extension of 2.
  • nazzyq #3 1 year ago

So wait we're playing as Altair who is actually just a projection of Ezio's subconscious who himself is a projection of Desmond's subconscious? O_o
  • MasonMk #4 1 year ago

    @nazzyq sounds very inception-like :p
  • Syrette #5 1 year ago

They've confirmed that this will be the last title to feature Ezio. And that's fine, in my opinion. Any more would be really overdoing it.

People talk about milking the franchise but when the games are so good, is that necessarily a bad (or even a true) thing? There is so much content, so much detail, so much passion in these titles. Presuming that they're rushed out purely for the cash is doing them a disservice.

I'm not sure why shorter breaks between sequels always carries such a stigma in the gaming community. If a title is good, it's good, regardless of how long ago the previous title in the franchise was released.

I assume that there will be more of a break between Revelations and what one assumes will be Assassin's Creed 3 (with a new protagonist and engine).

At least Altair is playable! I'm still holding out for an Altair-only game. One set after AC1 and Bloodlines. It can use gameplay mechanics from AC2 because Altair invented the double blade and the new assassination techniques that Ezio learned.
  • coomber #7 1 year ago

Sounds good. Never been as impressed by this series as others have, but they're decent games and seem to be getting gradually better and better.
  • streetmagix #8 1 year ago

AC:Brotherhood felt like an expansion pack, new story and new location but it all felt very similar to AC2. I think this will be the same. I'm not suggesting they become like Valve or Blizzard, the team behind AC series have proven themselves to create VERY good games in a reasonably short period of time.
Maybe a new game every 1.5 years rather than every year?
  • Xardan #9 1 year ago

So this has had less than a year of development?
  • ZeroAX #10 1 year ago

50 years old?..... how the fuck is he supposed to climb roof tops at that age?
  • ISmoke #11 1 year ago

Can't wait! loved both the 2nd and Brotherhood. If it's on the same level of quality i dont care how often they come out.
  • M4RV #12 1 year ago

    @ZeroAX:

Be smart... This is a video game, not an accurate description of reality last time I checked; Also, have you played Brotherhood by any chance...?! Remember Mario Auditore...?! I bet he was in his early sixties to say the least, yet he was more than capable.

    - - - -

Sounds better and better; Ezio and Altaïr in the same game. Truly epic. :))))
  • Jonathan_Fakenham #13 1 year ago

50 years old, last Ezio game, people didn't live as long back then ---

I'm thinking Ezio's death will figure into the storyline of this game somehow.
  • Triggerhappytel #14 1 year ago

    "Host city Constantinole"
    "Eagle sense let's"

I've seen lots of poor proof reading here recently... what's going on, EG?!
  • Dr.Mott #15 1 year ago

    Assassinception's Creed
  • raloB #16 1 year ago

Paragraph 5: Constantinole should read Constantinople.
  • goatjugsoup #17 1 year ago

I don't mind the supposed milking if they keep churning out quality titles. Also I get that people are wanting a new character but I don't think that'll happen till the next numbered game.
  • Iain815 #18 1 year ago

"Traditional side missions have been scrapped in favour of "random events" to make the game more immersive. For example, you might spot a shop owner being robbed while wandering round the city or a child asking for help."

So like Red Dead Redemption? Awesome. All this sounds great, can't wait.
  • bearfield #19 1 year ago

Is it weird that I want to play this soley for the experience of wandering through Constantinople?
  • Ashcroft #20 1 year ago

Unless Ezio dies spunking out the next ancestor in the chain, it can't feature in the game, so scratch that idea.

This series really needs to end. They're stirring the plot nicely, but the interest they started with AC2 is now going to have to stretch over another 2 games? They are pushing it.
  • Diabeu #21 1 year ago

    300 bomb variations???
  • EMarkM #22 1 year ago

    @goatjugsoup
I don't mind the supposed milking if they keep churning out quality titles.

    Milk...churn: hah - I get it!
  • jidnffc #23 1 year ago

@bearfield: Not at all, one of my main draws to this series is the locations and their setting.
  • rick1199 #24 1 year ago

re: the comment most people died by 50.

This is a misconception coming from the fact that the average life expectancy was low due to a very high rate of infant mortality.

Also poorer people would have died earlier than richer people.

Really? Ezio again?? This franchise is crying out for a change. How about something a bit more modern. It would be very col to employ some of the same game mechanics in a World War setting or Industrial England. Anything! There's the entire of history and the future. Im not buying another installment until they change the setting significantly. AC2 is massive enough
  • GooseUK #26 1 year ago

Wow, they actually listened to a lot of the feedback they asked for in the questionnaire they did a while back. I'm impressed. Brotherhood totally took me by suprise at how GOOD it was, hopefully this will be no expcetion
  • Nevflinn #27 1 year ago

"New gameplay additions include an item called the hookblade which you can use to zipline across the city or grab enemies to yank them in for a combo attack."
Clever idea. I'm not sure whether or not I'll hear more jokes referring Scorpion, or Nathan Spencer. Though I'd like to think its travelling aspect would be more of a regular zip.
  • Vanmunt #28 1 year ago

I will no doubt play this as I have invested so much time into the story... but no way is it a day one for me, going to wait for a game drought and pick it up cheap.
  • Daeltaja #29 1 year ago

They really need to refine the controls. This dude is an assassin and he can't even duck behind walls a part from in an awkward crouch and even then his head is sticking up over it. Should take a page from Nathan Drakes book, or even Sam Fisher.

This lack of control intuition really began to grate during Brotherhood.
  • eviroboy #30 1 year ago

    Assassin's Creed 2.75 then.
  • stegabba #31 1 year ago

i thought they would concentrate on 3 after brotherhood instead of another yearly release, but lets get real here if it was your business and you know damn well if you release another product within a year and it will sell millions you are gonna do it for sure
  • rottingyoda #32 1 year ago

    3rd level of inception?
  • sailesh #33 1 year ago

So it's Assassin's Creed: Sandbox Edition. Might be good, might be shit.
  • ForozM #34 1 year ago

By the sound of it, the team played some Just Cause 2. Thankfully.
  • linksdad #35 1 year ago

Brotherhood may have been better than 2 but I think I must have had my fill after 2, because I couldnt muster the motivation to keep playing Brotherhood past the first few hours.
  • bratmandu #36 1 year ago

If Ezio is 50+, since he's older, maybe there'll be more stealth, silent takedowns and hand to hand combat and slightly less acrobatics and smaller buildings (the skyline in the screenshot indicates less verticality). If they had more detail and things to hide behind/in on the ground it could be like kinda a splinter cell-ey, hitman-ey type of thing, but open world. Now they've nailed the hopping about on rooftops they could do with focussing on the weaker aspects of the series, i.e stealth and combat.

Would rather have less mp modes - advanced wanted was the only one worth playin in acb and it rocked, more modes just split the player base - it's hard enough to get a game found as it is, but when you do play it's a refreshing take on mp in games - I love it. Bring on more.
  • The-Bodybuilder #37 1 year ago

To the people crying over "more Ezio?", Do you say "more mario?" when the new Mario game comes out? Or better yet, "more solid snake?" for the latest MGS? In fact, I seem to remember the majority of people moaning that they still want more snake in MGS.

The reason why you want more solid snake is the reason why there's more Ezio.....they're both awesome protagonists. Ezio is a charming, charismatic man, and unlike any other game, we got to play him as a teen during the tragedy that made him who he is.
The issue Uni have is that they've made an interesting character. Why kill him off so soon?
  • KrazyFace #38 1 year ago

Exactly Bodybuilder, well said. I really like what theyre doing with the series and I'm perfectly happy to play out the last arc of Ezio's story. I'm also looking forward to seeing what they do with Altiar too! The way I see it, if you have a good story to tell, then tell it well, spitting out the good bits as fast as possible just makes a good story suck. So, Ubi; take your time. Make as many as you need to, to make this one of the best game series ever. Oh, and keep listening to that fan-feedback!
  • captain_Curry #39 1 year ago

Ol man river, that ol man river
  • scor81 #40 1 year ago

i dont think i can be bothered playing through another AC game form this era. They should do something new with it... the Ezio era is tired for me personally.
  • Lunatic4ever #41 1 year ago

Please dear god, I dont want another Metal Gear Solid 4!
Don't want another old protagonist who keeps having backache!

But hey...constantinople is awesome and 30% faster navigation sound good to me.I'm in.
  • Iain815 #42 1 year ago

    @kmcroc

    November 2016, obviously.
  • JCHilton #43 1 year ago

So the same character EZIO..... released only a year after brotherhood? This is surely too far in repitition ?
  • sanctusmortis #44 1 year ago

Hopefully this is to wrap Ezio and Altair ahead of a new protagonist in AC3 proper.
  • Dannyboy1100 #45 1 year ago

    "random events"

    sigh...
    -chasing bad guy
-dialogue for a quest to get a cat off the roof comes up
    -bad guy gets away
    sounds awesome sign me up
  • Centrifugal #46 1 year ago

50 years old?..... how the fuck is he supposed to climb roof tops at that age?

    Sam Fisher seems to manage.
  • TheNinkyNonk #47 1 year ago

I've never forgiven this franchise since the over-hyped steaming pile of dull pap that was the first one.

    Am I being mean?
  • Sodding_Gamer #48 1 year ago

    @TheNinkyNonk

The first one was very repetitive, the only good part was the ending. I highly recommend you play the second and brotherhood. I guarantee you will change your mind. They adapted from the first one so much.
  • Darren #49 1 year ago

@streetmagix- I have to agree with you that Brotherhood was more AC2.5 than a true sequel and certainly not the same huge leap in quality from AC to AC2. Of course, AC2 was already excellent anyway but I felt more could have been done with Brotherhood if the game had had a longer development cycle.

While I enjoy these games, Brotherhood was a little too samey after playing AC2 to death (kind of ironic too given the PC version arrived six months later). Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing and while I don't object to sequels I do think many of them are too frequent as publishers latch onto a big selling title and milk it until you're sick to death of it. Why do they have to be released annually anyway? What's wrong with having two or three years between them (like movie sequels) and giving new games/franchises a chance inbetween?
  • telboy007 #50 1 year ago

"the only good part was the ending"

The ending was the most epic thing I've ever experienced gaming wise, it was such a massive shift from what the rest of the game was and you didn't actually do that much either. If I hadn't off played through to the ending I never would have bought AC 2.

Anyway this will never be Inception proper unless the game is about Desmond's ancestor using the animus to view Desmond using the animus to view Ezio using seals to view Altair doing stuff. Come on, sort it out. ;)
  • mungolikebeans #51 1 year ago

    Grappling hook? Hell, yes.

    Be more like Tenchu!

    Awesome.
  • Darren #52 1 year ago

"Assassin's Creed: Revelations is currently scheduled for a November release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360."

What's the betting that the PC version is delayed six months into 2012?
  • Sunyavadin #53 1 year ago

GIVE US ANOTHER BLOODY TIME PERIOD ALREADY, UBI!
  • Normbo #54 1 year ago

"So wait we're playing as Altair who is actually just a projection of Ezio's subconscious who himself is a projection of Desmond's subconscious? O_o "

Nah, all three of the characters are completely autonomous...but I really am looking forward to the opening coma storyline and seeing how that plays out. What I really need however... is more footage. I uploaded the whole teaser trailer series, which was assembled in one shot a few hours later <a href="http://www.assassinscreedrevelationscheats.com/assassins-creed-revelations-official-trailer/">

So far I've heard that we won't be getting anything more until E3...

ezio rulessss and this game is gonna be sick
