Fallout: New Vegas DLC announced

Three new Mojave adventures

The rumours were correct - the next three add-ons for Fallout: New Vegas will be called Honest Hearts, Old World Blues and Lonesome Road.

And they'll arrive in that order: Honest Hearts first on 17th May (PC, Xbox 360) and 18th May (PS3); Old World Blues in June; and Lonesome Road in July.

Honest Hearts takes you and your caravan into the tribal raider-ravaged landscape of Utah's Zion National Park, where the fate of the local factions lies in your hands.

Old World Blues turns you into a lab rat and has you scouring a science facility for answers.

Lonesome Road ends the courier story, as Courier Six - Ulysees - promises answers if you undertake one last mission - a task from which no other has returned.

Each add-on will cost 800 Microsoft Points or £7.49/€9.99.

The "always entertaining" and "shamelessly entertaining" Fallout: New Vegas scored a whopping 9/10 on Eurogamer.

Never played Fallout: New Vegas? This is what the first 15 minutes are like.

I think I'll trade my copy of New Vegas in now and pick up these in the GOTY-equivalent pack.
  • Murton #2 1 year ago

Are we to assume that there will be a new patch for the core game to fix the remaining bugs there before these come out and introduce fresh new bugs to an already broken game?

Then of course there is the massive ramping up of issues relating to the memory leaks due to increasing the amount of content and duration of the game.

If Lonesome Road "ends the story of the courier", does that mean it's set after the main story? If so, are they going to finally allow you to continue exploring after the end of the main storyline?

So that'll be GOTY edition in the Autumn then. Result.
  • NewbieZilla #6 1 year ago

Really hope they are better than the tripe that was Dead Money.
  • DefendoCroc #7 1 year ago

Even though the latest patch for this game completely fucks peoples save games due to to the last DLC, they really dont give a toss as long as there are udders than can still be milked =/
  • menage #8 1 year ago

Can we update the freaking game yet or what?

Like I'm buying anything from these incompetents again. They have good ideas, but their execution is horrid.
  • coolbritannia #9 1 year ago

yay, I'll pick up the GOTY edition then. oh devs, how your dlc plans can backfire.

Backfire? You're gonna pay (close to) full-price for a game that's been out a year. And Eraysor is going to buy the game for a second time. Sounds like a win for them.

    @menage
I had the bad update, then last time I played it said update again and then my broken saves worked again, so I guess it's safe now.

Also, I'm pretty surprised they haven't paced these releases out since New Vegas came out 8 or 9 months ago!

"Never played New Vegas? This is what the first 15 minutes are like" - I'm guessing shortly after that it crashed haha :p

Edit: What's that? I have to justify my comment by explaining that I paid full price for this game and as such feel making any snide half serious comments is perfectly justified after the crashes I experienced every twenty minutes from hour 14 onwards. Meh Neg Nazis can suck on my giant bell shaped neg haha

I hope that's literally 'turns you into a lab rat.'
  • Moribundman #14 1 year ago

@Ged42 Obsidian have "figuratively" turned us into lab rats for 6 months by charging us about £35 apiece to participate in their post-gold quality control session... ;-)

Truthfully? Big fan of New Vegas. If you proceeded with caution, played with OCD back ups or are just lucky you'll have navigated around the many many bugs and played a great game. I've managed to 100% achievement the game on 3 seperate play-throughs, only one of which was particularlly disrupted (by the original "DLC missing" bug)... Close to 300 hours and counting in that game. Scary.

Only wish they'd release it next week rather than the week after (when LA Noire comes out) although if its anything like Dead Money it'll fill the gap nicely between Tuesday night and the UK release date of LA Noire...
  • coolbritannia #15 1 year ago

@arcam, who pays full price for goty editions? Borderlands goty = £18, Fallout 3 goty = £14.

I won't pay more than £20 for this. I win.
  • darkphoenix #16 1 year ago

    No level-cap raise?
    No buy.
  • Lord_BeeJee #17 1 year ago

I wonder how much sales it costs them for people waiting to buy the game + all DLC in one pack. If it works out well, the selling of dlc compensates for the lost sales and a year later the goty version sells more than usually. If this is the case the dev wins because they have more profit and patient gamers can have the finished game without paying more.
    Works for me anyway.
  • metalangel #18 1 year ago

Meh. By the time these come out I might be in the mood to resume my game. I was going to say, "maybe a patch will be out too!" but I know better than that. Perhaps they'll even making levitating off your chair with your head rotating into a perk!

"If you proceeded with caution, played with OCD back ups or are just lucky you'll have navigated around the many many bugs and played a great game."

Can't speak for everyone but I can live with bugs, as you say with a little caution and insight you can sidestep many of them but no amount of caution or knowledge of bugs and workarounds can see you around the monumental memory leaks in the GameBryo engine, no matter what you do you're going to get those frame rate drops and complete crashes. I wonder how many PSU failures in both PS3 and 360 consoles were accelerated by the near constant need to perform a hard reboot while playing Fallout 3?

I hope there's some more companion characters and weapons. I personally would like a lovable centaur called freckles and the return of the rock-it launcher which would be great boon for hardcore mode.

And hopefully one of these continues on after the main story cause I never got to use the Legates weapon at the end.

Is it safe to put my FO New Vegas disk in now with out my 360 bursting into flames.
  • wow_yeh #22 1 year ago

    @darkphoenix
They raised the level cap in Dead Money by 5 so I think it should be safe to assume a further 5 per DLC? Unless I've missed an announcement, in which case, fell free to correct me or call me a twat.
  • slickster #23 1 year ago

New dlc will mean more patchs no buy for me this game is a buggy terd.
  • geeza2020 #24 1 year ago

played through the main game, loved it, only ever had 1 or 2 crashes in about 80 hours of game, dont know what people are getting their knickers in a twist over. Its a great game, just save it regularly, it aint that hard.
  • desperado67 #25 1 year ago

I think i must be unique. over 150hrs and no crashes. Yes, a few bugs initially, but really, on a game of this size and complexity its hardly suprising. Oh yeah, i bought it on release day. My only issue is that i'm not enjoying it as much as F3. To be honest, all of the factions are arseholes especially the NCR. It is difficult to enjoy it if you hate them all and I don't particularly want to go on a slaughter fest killing everything that moves.
  • Gecks #26 1 year ago

    @geeza2020
the bugs are real, and saving regularly wouldn't have helped me. you know what, i can deal with a game crashing and freezing every 10 minutes (no exaggeration - it actually started doing that about 30 hrs in, although this at least seems to have been fixed in subsequent patches), as i can re-load and try again.

what i can't deal with are disappearing companions (Arcade is NOWHERE to be found.. i sent him back to the mormon fort ages ago and i when i came back to find him he's not there, or at lucky 38, or anywhere), and the bugged quests (i can't finish the brotherhood of steel quests because it's stuck in a loop during the leadership changeover, so i can never get power armour, and i can't get at the relevant endings). re-loading doesn't help here.

without the bugs i think this is the better game to fallout 3, but there you go.
